Drew needs surgery

My just turned 4 year old DGS will have surgery in a couple weeks.

Drew had tubes put in his ear due to so many ear infections.

Last fall the little turkey inserted a small Leggo peice in his ear (why do kids stuff things in their ear and nose?!LOL) anyway Mommie took him to the doc, doc said I can't remove it the ENT's get mad if we do. Off to the ENT doc. He took it out with no problems. Then looking in his ear told Mom that he has a perforation in his ear drum from where the tube was and never grew together. (tubes both fell out close to a year ago) he suggested giving it til now to grow closed. They were back to the ENT last Friday and the hole still looks exactly the same.

So they will do surgery, it sounds like a skin graft type thing. They take a peice of skin from behind his ear and "glue" it.

So when they put tubes in kids's ears they actually make a hole in the ear drum?? Owww! Has anyone else had this happen where they didn't grow shut. We haven't noticed a problem with his hearing, but now of course everyone is worried about our lil DrewyDrew! DD is really worried about pain, the Doc says oh no pain. But they told her the same thing about the surgery to repair the broken bones in her hand last August too. She had LOTS of pain.

I hope this guy knows what he is talking about!
