Any volunteer readers out there???

I've completed a manuscript that I've spent five years writing. It's a book on internet dating, telling about the true story of my 70 first dates. It's on its way to the editor's hands in a few days and I'd love to have some feedback before it goes there.

After that, it'll be published and then (hopefully), it'll be up at Amazon within 60 days or so. That's the plan, anyway.

So, if you'd be interested in reading this, please send me an email, and I can send the word doc by return email.

Do you take constructive criticism well? LOL If so, I'd love to read it.

How about somebody else? I'd think that other input would be helpful.

Yes, I take constructive criticism pretty well. My daughter read the manuscript and said three pages were just "boring." They were three pages I'd spent days toiling over. I re-read those three pages and saw she was right. I ditched them!

Fact is, I prefer an honest critique to a "oh yeah, it's all perfect" response.

I have several Hostas in my gardens and the only mature one that produces seeds is the Yellow River. One of the younger ones I grew from seed in 2006 produces a white flower and seeds. I don't know the parents but all those babies have blue foliage. I would think it would be quite difficult for Hostas to re-seed. The seed would fall on all of that dense foliage and it probably would not come into contact with soil to germinate. It would probably rot in between all those wet leaves over the winter. I sowed Hosta in my first year of winter sowing. My records show I sowed them on April 5, and that year I used those berry containers, not realizing they were not deep enough and I had to water every day. I did not keep records of germination dates in those days, but I do not remember them coming up that late. But then maybe some are easier than others to germinate. You may want to collect the mature seeds and throw them under the leaves in the fall. Maybe that would be the way to get volunteers.

Hubby got the Fire for Christmas and I took his old kindle. The Fire is too heavy for me. I don't like carrying it around. I started checking out kindle books from our library's electronic media catalog--it's saved me a bunch of money because I read so much. The only problem now is that so many people know about the digital library that my books are always checked out. I see no one has posted here in a while but I'm sure we are all reading. Scraphappy, I discovered Rosamond Pilcher sometime back and like her books especially The Shell Seekers-it was made into a movie staring Angela Lansbury who I also like. I recently read Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber. I liked it maybe best of any of her books I've read. At the moment I'm reading another of her books called Between Friends. The time frame is my life so it has brought up lots of memories. Keep Reading Sally

No I don't know....but....I do know that sometimes when a book has a second publishing..it may have a different cover. I have a couple books that way...one is older and they have different pictures on the front cover but the same story inside. Is there anyway you can find out if it is the same one? patti

I'm excited for you about your book! My DS met his first wife via the internet (marriage didn't last) and they both have stories. Anyway, I'd love to read the book.

I am a "readaholic" so would love to read your book. I met my now deceased SO through an ad, that was before on-line dating. We were together 17 years. Before that I had another "gentleman" friend that I knew was a loser and only went with him for a short time. I had been a widow for many years and was encouraged to try the ad dating by co-workers.

Thank-you SO much for your help. I've re-written two chapters, reducing them from 11 pages to 2, so if anyone would like to keep reading - into the GOOD stuff (the true story of those 70 first dates) drop me a line.

I'm really grateful for all the "volunteers" who read the work and offered their insights and advice.

How many chapters are there to the book? I read the three chapters you sent me which covers the 69 dates, with the 70th being the winner. I am wondering if this is more "article-length" rather thank book length or is there a lot more coming?
