growing out volunteers

When you find volunteer tomato plants in your garden, do you ever let them keep growing?

Have you been happy with the results?

I've been planning to buy 1-2 plants from the store this year, since I don't have as many of my own seedlings as I'd like, but I found a few volunteers in my garden, and now I'm beginning to wonder how brave I might be.

For a bit more info...last year I grew Romas and grape tomatoes from Home Depot (the volunteers are nearer to where the Romas were growing), and of course there's also the possibility of something that came out of the compost from a store-bought tomato.
