I would call my theme "classy take out". I know whre you live if you are going to Ravinia...my son lives in Buffalo Grove and his wife grew up in Deerfield. Everything is available to you. I would buy something lovely, precooked...perhaps Dorfflers would do you something like pre cooked beef tenderloin that you could slice and serve with an assortment or bottled sauces and breads....or several chickens on a spit. How about Chinese take out? You can keep hot stuff hot in a coleman cooler. And everyone could add to that. Do you have one of those tables in a bag that are so much used at Ravinia? and chop sticks...I know they make square black plastic plates ( normally I eschew disposable...but I'll give permission this time! LOL!) You can also buy those white boxes and use them for leftovers or anything that yo think of. Head to the dollar store and see what you can find for table decorations. You could tell the others that the theme is "Chinese"....and since you have no kitchen...you can do take out.....and they can do soup....veggies etc. Linda C

There is no window in the dining/playroom? If so, I think it would be fun to paint the back wall with chalkboard paint (any color you like - would not have to black), or use cork panels. With flat molding around it, it would look nice, and be frequently used by kids. It would also serve as a focal point. Alternatively, you could wallpaper the rear wall, or hang fabric panels as an accent. What is the room with the mirrored sliding doors? I have never been a fan of sliding doors - I would consider replacing with a pair of regular doors. If you like the mirrored aspect, you could have mirrored inserts in a panel door. Or with kids, maybe not.

The multi colored peice is an art work two different pieces. I just bought the rug and coffee table for now and am definitely taking your advice and waiting until we move to buy some of the other items. I have attached the plan for the room. Thanks again for your help . I was very stuck! we are putting in blinds for the windows and removing the curtains for sure.

@Roger in Phoenix I do like that recliner a lot. But will that wood color work with the wood of the Aubrey dining chairs? Does the style work well with the dining chair? The chairs are actually a bit darker than in the photo above and they will be nearby the recliner. Here's a better photo. Also, would the chair work better in a darker color leather? Maybe charcoal?
