We replaced a toilet recently, and read through all of the posts here. In a couple of threads, we found a link to this report on the functioning of various toilets: http://www.cuwcc.org/maptesting.lasso. Based on what we read in that report, we bought the American Standard Cadet 3. It's great: it does what it needs to do, looks nice, and was readily available at HD. We might have considered a Toto, but the nearest showroom was a 50+ mile drive, and so we decided against it.

I think that usually that's the case with potty training kids. Everyone we know has talked about how difficult it was to get their child to sit on the potty and poop. The children just don't want to sit for that long or they just feel it is easier to go in their pants and have you change them. What was that I read awhile ago...that toddlers often get to a point where they don't understand why they have to change the system. It worked for how long to just go in their pants and have whoever change them and they don't understand why they can't do that anymore. I guess you could try finding those books about kids going to the potty or a movie and keep showing that to your son. Or you could always invite him in the bathroom while you're going or something and show him it's normal and that Mommy and Daddy do it? I know that may seem gross to some but figure they tell father's to show their son's that they stand up to pee to get them into doing it. But honestly it may just not be time for your son to start being fully potty trained. I've read a lot that they may be all excited about it for a few weeks and then regress back to not going at all for a while. Guess I'm VERY lucky, though. DS started pooping in the potty first and it's been about 4 months since I've had to clean a pull-up or diaper! Now if we could just get him to be much more consistant with peeing in the potty... ~Leslie~

There are many kits on the market that are made for training your cat, and they supply all the parts needed.....see link below. I'm not a fan of the idea since I can just see my cat scratching the seat and lid in an effort to 'bury'. She now tries to bury any food she's not interested in so her instinct is pretty strong. :) plastician..........I think what your kitten is doing is normal. My cat will do that to the wall, the sides of her box and the edge of the litter box if the box is too small or she doesn't have enough litter to cover her business. Make sure the box is large enough for her and that there is the right depth of litter in the box. I keep about 3" of litter in my cat's box.

A question first, is the toilet the only thing draining slow or not at all? If you are not having a backup from any other device while trying to drain a large amount of water, i.e. tub, shower, dishwasher, or washing machine draining slowly, then the clog is likely localized to the toilet only. Roots or some other clog in the main drain line would, in theory slow down the whole system.Ridex is a product to promote the bacterial function of a septic tank and would not unclog a toilet and other drain cleaners should be avoided in a toilet because of their caustic nature and danger of splash back. My thought, if the toilet is the only thing draining slowly, is one of 2 things, you have a stubborn small item trapped in the device itself that clears and floats back to clog, I had a plastic bottle cap in one of mine once as an example, and secondly something has caused your tank to not refill with enough water to make it flush. Look at the water level in the tank and see if it is up to the water line stain inside from past levels or, as odd as it might sound, try flushing the toilet with a bucket of water poured slowly into the bowl until it flushes, instead of flushing it with the tank. Try this when the toilet has not been used so that you are dealing with clean water but you should not have to over fill the toilet to get it to flush. Obvioulsy if this works there is no clog but instead a problem with your tank float which is not allowing enough water to fill the tank and to provide enough water to flush.
