Mitchdesj, I do indeed feel so very blessed to be able to enjoy these "little excursions" with "Mum". We have always been such good friends, and these adventures only serve to cement our bond. It's so nice that we both enjoy the same things about England -- everyday village life, tea rooms, pubs, cute little shops. Maybe it goes way back to our ancestry, but there's just something "familiar" about being among the English people. Well, familiar and a bit foreign at the same time, which keeps it interesting. (If that makes any sense.) I'm linking to the website for Sticky End Cottage, in case anyone wants to see more. Remember the adorable cottage in the film "The Holiday"? I fell completely in love with that place, but I honestly think that Sticky End was every bit as good - and it's available to rent! :-D The owners were very sweet and ensured that our stay was perfectly enjoyable. I just lost my dream house

I drove through a different area yesterday, for Nick's football game, near where my sister lives and where I used to live. I am not kidding, I probably could have counted a hundred for sale signs. Maybe even more. And that is the supposedly desirable area. This is the boonies. That's the problem - this area wasn't built up during the housing boom so there isn't excess inventory. What is on the market in my range are the unsellables - one bad location (next to the biggest 24 hour gas station in town, at the busiest intersection), one has a cesspool, one is a peeling Victorian (I don't want to deal with old peeling possibly lead paint with two young children). This is the type of area where people don't move in and out of very often, they just move around and no one is moving around since there is no place to move to. There really isn't a neighboring town south (there's a big mountain) and I don't really want to go any further north but even if I did - those towns have even less to offer.

Well that picture says it all. When the hell is spring going to get here? If memory serves me (???) correctly here in MA. spring came in with a flourish and we never looked back..It was a wonderful spring and summer for that matter. This year not so much...come on spring.!!!

That is the feeling of many of us who just got pounded with yet another snow storm.

A couple of days ago - the large snow banks that had been around for a while had pretty well disappeared.

Then ... we had some rain, freezing rain and snow.

Yesterday when I looked out of the bedroom window ... there was about a four-inch round line of snow along the clothesline.

I expected that it would have gone ... but this morning it was still there.

I was surprised.

By the way - I hope that this kid gets some exercise soon ... for s/he's already on the edge of being obese.

What's our world coming to, anyway!

I'm sorry it's still so cold. It's 83 today and sunny. Tomorrow it's supposed to be 79 so SIL will be happy. He hates warm weather! :-(

Now that is a REAL LOL.

If I used screen savers that would be perfect right now. I was able to sit out on my front porch a couple days ago. Now I'm in here with the heat on.
