LOL I especially like the look on her face, sort of a "what?" appearance. I can't help but wonder if she had forethought when she drew the mouth like that. She often has her hair crossing her eye (drives her teachers nutz) but she won't wear baretts or anything... doesn't seem to bug her.

I could see a more natural feel for this room being complimentary and ideas over headboard are below as well as for accessorizing Think about how you want the whole room to feel before adding more In sitting area, try high boy on other wall with mirror above and if you added a bookcase on the far wall and chair under window it will be a cozy little reading nook. A Kilim rug would be lovely there to ground the space. Another idea, if you have another spot for chair, you could make that area more functional with a vanity.

I agree that the rug is much too small as well as dark. The tones are taking away from the distinct table base and the coordinating chair legs. As an admitted minimalist, I'd have no rug there or one that's the same color as the floor but textural. The floors are beautiful. Given the many hard reflective surfaces, I think a mirror would be too much and would prefer a textural art piece. The height can't be greater than what's there now due to the vent. Although I really like the candlestick lamps below, it may look cluttered due to the glass cabinet close to the sideboard.

I think you can go either way, just depending on what you like. If you add a color I'd keep it subtle and not a "punch". These are just a couple of suggestions to give you an idea. If you go with color in your artwork bring it into the rest of the room with pillows or a couple of accessories. Artwork can be pretty personal so look at things you like as you'll see it a lot and something that picks up the gray of the wall color.
