Right click the desktop, properties - screen saver tab - click the power button - mine is set to always on, then turn off monitor in 20 mins, the rest say never. Click apply, then ok. I have nothing checked on the hibernation tab and no screensaver. See if that helps.

Cindy, I didn't have your exact symptoms, but I have had a lot of trouble sleeping over the past few years. A few weeks ago I decided to look at controllable physical reasons, and I cut out all caffine and spicy foods after 1 p.m., and now make sure I don't eat a heavy meal after 6. Then, I looked at possible external reasons and decided to stop watching TV in my bedroom, and I started playing relaxation CD's at night at a very low volume (downloaded to itunes and played continuously throughout the night on my computer). I find that I don't toss and turn all night like I used to, and the music helps me drift off very quickly. I think the ocean sounds and the sound of rain and soft music help me fall asleep more quickly and keep me from waking up. I feel much more refreshed in the morning than I have in years. $70,000?!!! Joyful, that's a lot of money for a rental. I guess that's one reason I bought. Got tired of giving my landlord all that money and not being able to do what I wanted with the house. I saw my old rental house in the paper today. They've put in central air and recarpted...now asking $50 more a month than I was paying.

I've also had a sleeping problem all my life, I was diagnosed through a sleep clinic. I choose not to use artificial means to go to sleep- I worry about my liver and other organs. I use relaxation techniques, and remind myself that my body will sleep when it needs to. This isn't always easy, because I work in an office all day, and it's really hard to function sometimes when I've been on a long stretch of poor sleep. But those times are usually the times I don't bother getting enough exercise and using relaxation techniques. And it seems like it's when I tell myself I'm too tired to exercise that I really have trouble sleeping (I too go to sleep just fine and then I wake up and can't go back to sleep). You need to rid your body of excess physical tension to get a restful sleep- that's why relaxation techniques work so well. It's a very healthy solution.
