Baby Einstein Videos, love or leave 'em??

My Raquel has the Shakespeare and the Dolittle ones!! She loves them!! And I'm finding that she reacts the very same way at certain areas on each tape! How do you guys like them?? I highly recommend them!!

We bought the Baby Mozart and Baby Einstein for our DD when she was younger. She loved them too. I still wish I was the one who came up with the idea to take a home video camera and film baby toys with music in the background. (LOL)

Me too!! I'm going to let my 11 year old son try to make a video for Raquel in the same manner, he is SO excited about it!! I'm going to help him, but I have a cousin that makes videos for fun (he's a VERY intellegent teen, lol:) and see if he'll add effects and music to it for Mason, I'll keep ya'll posted!! Now to round up those old toys!!

Thanks Frank, more great advise from you . . . as always. Gonna jump right to that. Every little thing I can do to help them along. That sure is a stunning flower !! From a leaf to that in just 5 months. . . WOW ! Could you please read my reply to your comment about the lop-sided plant. Was wonderin if I could remove longer, older, bigger leaves now while in bloom. Minimac, thank you for the praise. Posting pics isn't hard, and I would love to see what you have. Yes those AV's from my clients house are still hangin in there, still bloomin. I did notice the other day that they were standing in water, she musta decided to water them for a change. I did dump the water out of them, I swear she is so neglegent when it comes to her plants, and yet they seem to preform for her (flower) nothing spectacular when it comes to the main plant. She has a sunroom full plants that I'd love to get my hands on. Her 5 hoyas are so dry that if you blew into the pot you'd cause a dust storm, and they all bloom!!! But the leaves are whithered, pale and straggley. She has two huge ponytail palms that could be beautiful if only. . . a little tlc. Ya I think you're probably right about wicking the AV's. I may do it just for convience sake. I use a piece of panyhose, that's what my gramma did, so that's what I did. I may even wick the mammas. Still can't believe they are doing so well in a bright north window, but they are. I'll be sure to post when the leaves get their mouse ears, and when my babies have flowers.

Fabulous video. That's some great setup you have! That is about the number of Anna's and Rufus we had here in Oregon this year. And the Rufus were more aggressive this past spring than usual, not only attacking the Anna's hummingbirds we have year-round, but also getting after regular birds who were at the feeders eating some fifteen feet away and having the nerve to harass and chase chickadees in trees nowhere close to the feeders. I witnessed one pitching a fight with a stellar jay and another going after a squirrel in the yard. Ahah. Yours are so mild-mannered. :) Our Anna's love salvia. It appears to be the favorite. They're not going to be happy when winter comes. We never used to have them year-round, but for the past three years, suddenly we have! The numbers drop dramatically, though.

I see Jessy beat me to the 'puter this morning, obviously neither of us were getting much sleep! I'm finally feeling much better, the sinus infections just hung on until the doc mixed my antibiotic with prednisone. I can finally breathe normally, but it shot my sleep pattern to he!! Work is crazy right now, ramping up to a big fundraiser. I have lots of talented parents right now, but I still need to be everywhere and oversee everyone! Invitations hit the mail yesterday, so that chore is over, but the auction catalogue, prizes, tribute journal, honoree speeches, decor etc are looming. Plus the boss is taking off for almost 3 weeks before! She's incredibly helpful,so that isn't great timing! DSIL is off to Chicago yesterday for what looks like a longish job. That means DD and DGS's will follow soon. At least this time the film is in this country! DGS Mason was one yesterday! i missed being with him due to work and the late demands of the job. Sunday DD is going ahead with the plans for a little afternoon party for the family and a couple of close friends. That shoudl be fine. Both boys have had sinus infections too...gee wonder who gave it to me? LOL Dinner tonight? I have no idea! Last night was steak, grilled asparagus and some other assorted veggies. I munched all day with our volunteer parents so I really shouldn't have eaten at all, but I think DH would disagree! Anyway, at this hour I'll just clink with my synthroid pill and water. Not very exciting, eh? Good weekend to all!

If you read the data on those videos, it's not very positive. Studies have shown that it actually delays speech. But as a mother of twins I know that sometimes you need a break in order to be a better parent. If tv can provide you with a few minutes to yourself, then I don't see anything wrong with that. My children are now 1 year old and are just now becoming interested in tv, so I would be open to these videos. If they're going to watch something, it might as well be educational. But I do think the longer you can keep them away from tv, the better.

Why would you turn on at TV? Sit the kid down surrounded by toys he can interact with..take your break.
There are no studies that say TV is a good thing ever but particularly before pre-school!! To get a strong grasp of language, meaning of words children need to INTERACT have REAL LIFE experiences. Years of public and private school work as a Speech and Language Therapist has convinced me what the studies say read, talk play with your child. TV does NOTHING for them they NEED!
