As a young adult I went to the drive-in a lot (there was one in St. Charles, MO). I "thought" I missed the drive-in until I went to one 2 summers ago (with KT's Charlee and Glen). Way too much noise and distraction with people walking and driving around. We had a hard time adjusting the sound through the radio_ as well.

Give me a comfy chair_ in a air-conditioned theater. lol

I was just thinking of the old drive-in movies the other night. What a great way for a family to spend a reasonable night out. Just throw all of the little ones in the car...pj's were acceptable attire for them. You could pop your own corn and bring your own sodas. How I miss drive-in movies! When hubby and I went to see Crazy Heart a couple of weeks ago, I couldn't believe the price for a large popcorn and soda. You could buy a good dinner for that price!!!

Yes, I wish they were back again. But then again it may not be a good thing in todays times?

when I was growing up there were "crying rooms" at the back,
behind the seats. It was for families, children and wheel chairs.

We went to see Ghost Writer this past weekend, and
I would have loved to have had one of those rooms there
they 2 older ladies that came in and sat down must
have bathed in perfume! pheeeewwwwwwww!

There are no drive ins in Long Island NY anymore. We used to take the kids to the last one, called the We4stbury Drive In. It's now a shopping center. There's a drive in near where my Mom lives in Buffalo NY. The last movie I saw there was Dick Tracy with Warren Beatty. That was quite a few years back.

There are a couple of drive ins near Seattle still. I love it because last time I went you could see two movies for $5!

I HATE the commercials they always show before movies now, for products and tv shows even! It drives me crazy!

We had one up until a couple of years ago. Then Google decided they had to have the land it was sitting on to build a company building. Now I don't like Google anymore...lol

There was tons of land around that area...they didn't have to take our drive in...Denny and I had lots of good kissin and huggin there...LOLOL

I remember having fun at drive-ins, but I prefer to watch movies at home now, not even in a comfy theater...too noisy for me in my old age! LOL

we have a drive in about 35 or 40 minutes away.

dark! So we don't go much, have to stay up

Oh, yes, we would put the kids in their pajamas and off we would go. I remember once when it was all night westerns, and DH and DS wanted to go. We sat through three movies, and then went home, all pajama clad.

Nope, I don't miss drive-ins. Noisy drunk teens wandering around, lousy sound, hot as hell, all sorts of uncomfortable.

If I'm going to pay for a movie in a theater, I'll take a nice seat and air conditioning.

We still have a drive in that is open relatively close to us. We go a few times a season. It's fun! :)

I go back so far I can remember having $1:00 a car night....Man could we cram a bunch of kids in one car.
We'd be so cramped up by the time we got there we would have to help each other out of the car....LOL...GOOD TIMES

I like taking the pickup and backing in and sitting in the bed of the truck. with chairs, or chaises

We still have a drive in attached to an indoor multiplex. I only like the drive in on a hot summers night when you can set up lawns chairs and sort of have a small outdoor tailgate party.

I do really miss the grand old theaters of my youth. The plush carpet, the velvet curtain, the staircase leading up to the loge where the comfy seats were (some rocked), the murals on the walls and the plaster moldings.

The ushers would lead you to your seats by flashlight. Then they would stay and watch that their were no disturbances. Not really necessary since no one would think of being loud or annoying in the theater. Even the kiddie matinees filled with perhaps louder but still well behaved guests. You were treated like a guest. The manager would greet you at the door whether you were a grandmother or a young child.

Oh Wildchild I remember a theater like that, think it was in Burbank, not sure. You felt like royalty! When I first started dating guys with cars, they of course wanted to go to the drive-in, to keep me a good girl, my Dad made me take one of my little sisters everytime grrrrrrrrrr!!!!
I can also remember bunches of us piling in cars on $$$ night then make those with no dates sit in the playground benches. That was so the rest of us could make-out! lol

There's a drive-in just over the county line but I've never been to it. Thought about taking the kids a couple times but never did. When we lived down south there was one too and we'd go all the time.
