Sleep Training - Jodi Mindell

Did anyone try to sleep train their child using Jodi Mindell's technique? SHe is known as the "kinder, gentler Ferber". Once DS is over his cold, I want to start sleep training him and thought of trying her method. I was wondering if anyone had any success with it, how it worked, etc.

We did not use her particular techinique. However, the techniques we used worked wonderfully. DD is an excellent sleeper. I know this does not answer your question directly, but I just wanted to share a positive experience with sleep training.

There's nothing quite as cool-looking(temperaturewise) as BLUE flowers. I grew Phacelia a few years ago, best blue i ever saw, next to cornflowers. The bell-shaped blue flowers with icy-white anthers were beautiful, and stirred up images of cooler weather. They do have a short bloom time, hot weather just about stops the show, cutting back helps somewhat. Give 'em a try, i believe there are 2 or 3 varieties. Good luck, and enjoy.

"Shake and Bake" refers to the nickname given to the state of California, which it is not only named for, but it is the state flower for :) California is often referred to as "Shake and Bake, USA WELL DUH!...lol, FANNA WHO IS Hysterical laughing at herself for FORGETTING THIS FACT about Callie! See I am afraid to TRY any Poppy for breadseed because what if someone sends one they THINK is safe and it isn't? JASMINE, I ACCIDENTLY TYPED THE WRONG NUMBER! All is WELL it WAS Margos I was working on and since I believe I meanted the gift she gave me it was clear it was just a slip of the finger or brainwave or something along those lines..... Lisa I stayed up last night til 5:00 am or would that be stayed up this morning til? Oh well, which ever that is what I did. Ah, shucks! I'm glad I was up till almost three this morning playing trains and shooting the little bubbles. I knew it was too good to last long. I see those blasted bubbles in my sleep. I love the shiny red ones, and the shiny blue ones, and I can't tell the yellow and green apart easily.... and the purple is great too. I don't see how anyone can make those scores they post. Of course I don't really know how one gets points, either. I do know there are more points for multiple hits, but have no idea why some suddenly go zing zing zap and a fourth of all of them disappear at once. Do I sound like I am babbling? I feel like I am babbling. That's what obsession does to one!LOL

We took some of the points from Babywise and Ferber. We did not follow either to a tee. The biggest things that helped us were 1) the eat/play/sleep technique, and 2) giving DD time to calm herself down and learn to fall asleep on her own by not responding immediately to her fussing if we knew she was fed, changed, not sick, etc.

We also followed Babywise for our little guy. (also not to to a tee) but we also found the eat/play/sleep thing works wonderfully. I wish we would have used it for our first child. Our DS is totally scheduled and he is the happiest little baby I have ever known!!! At 10am, 2pm, 6pm and 10pm, that boy is sleeping no matter where he is!!
