Ok, so I got my results of the soil test back from UMass. Here are the results: -------------------------------------- Linestone and fertilizer recommendations for established turfgrass Apply 50 lb of calcitic limestone/1000 sq ft. Lime may be applied at any time, but mid-autumn or early spring is best Recommendation: 3 lb/1000 sq ft P205, and 4 lb/sq ft K20. To provide the above recommendations you may follow the directions below, or you may devise your own fertilizer program using the recommended amounts of phosphorus (P205) and potassium (K20) along with one pound of Nitrogen per 1000 sq feet. It may necessary to raise nutrient levels over several applications. Apply a 20-3-12 fertilizer @ 5 lbs/1000 sq ft in late April, late June, and very late August. If more convenient you may substitute the late April recommendation with the same application made 1 to 2 weeks after your last fall mowing. Follow these recommendations for two years. Retest the following year. Consult the interpretation sheet enclosed or obtain one of the turf guides referenced on the backside of the interpretation sheet. Micronutrient(ppm) Boron: 0.1 Manganese 1.3 Zinc 0.5 Copper 0.3 Iron 31.0 Sulfur 15.0 Soil Ph 6.1 Nitrogen: No3-N = 0 ppm BUffer pH: 6.7 Organic Matter 3.1% (desirable range 4 - 10%) nutrient levels (ppm) Phosphorus: 1 Potassium 45 Calcium 219 Magnesium 83 Cation exch Cap 4.0 meq/100g Percent base saturation K = 2.4, Mg = 13.9, Ca = 22.5 Micronutrient levels : all normal Extractable aluminum 128 ppm (soil range: 10 - 250 ppm) THe lead level in this soil is low. --------------------------- If I want to use organic fertilizer, do you have any recommendations for brands? Since I have missed the recommended late april application, can I apply one now, and still apply another in late June? If I apply the suggested lime amount, how will that affect the pH level? I am thinking of overseeding with kentucky bluegrass in the fall. Also i noticed in their interpretation sheet they mention that a Cation exch capacity of 10 to 15 is typical. and values below 6 may indicate the soil will have trouble supporting good turf growth unless special management techniques are employed. Should I be concerned? how can I increase this value?

It was meant to be a coffee table in the "style of" a cobblers bench. They were all over the place in the late 50's and 60's, very popular. And if you couldn't find a real antique cobbler's bench there was always Ethan allen or Sprague Carleton or Kling.... I am sure it would make a great cat feeding station or a race track for little cars or even a back door seat for removing boots. But it's a reproduction cobbler's bench, most likely used as a coffee table originally. During the 60's colonial craze, many things were reproduced and repurposed, dry sinks as stereo cabinets, apothecary cabinets as dressers or end tables, this is just one example. thank you for the info Fred. and Randy427. I suspected this, but just wasn't sure. On the replacement AC to AC transformer, does it matter if I use an output of 24VAC 20VA (833mA) or 24VAC 40VA (1600mA) ? On DC adapters, (assuming both adapters are the same brand/type and both are UL rated and similar manufacturer for comparison), I've been told that the amount of Amperage the adapter puts out can be higher than what the end device needs, and the device will just draw the amount of electricity that is needed, and the extra just means you have a beefier/better quality adapter than what is needed... does this also apply with AC transformers? or should I make sure I get one that has the exact same output at 20VA / 833mA? (This is to power a home water filtration unit, in case someone is wondering.) thanks again

More than you know.. because shoe shopping has become sad and stressful so your input and suggestions makes it much better. Yeonassky, I am not sure why you'd think I'd lambast you-- or want you to delete your post. I very much appreciate your insight. Spreading my toes while I walk won't help me but it's surely possible it will help someone.. as these shoe suggestions will likely help others as well-- even if they won't work for me. Daisy, funny-- I thought you were the one who recommended kork ease. My sister loves Born but they've never fit me well. I have been looking at that first sandal but even with the straps, they'll be too high. 1.5" is about my max, I think. I am actually thrilled that the 1.5" platform above worked for me-- they don't usually. (however, I am saying that without walking on a sidewalk with lines and cracks.. and a curb). I do love a cork heel! Tina, I don't really like toes out with suits. I feel like a suit needs a sleek, tailored look. Of course, on our hottest/most humid days, I don't usually wear a suit. I also like the shoe with the white spots-- it's a cole haan but I haven't been able to find it in my size :( What I'd really like for summer is a flat shoe with both bone and black. I've seen a d'orsay like that in past seasons but not now that I want one! I agree that the tortoise is best for fall-- the shoe style itself is best for fall.
