just as the ground is drying out...

..it snowed another 4" yesterday and is snowing again today. My grandson is thrilled, but I'm not. Ok, we need the moisture, and I know I shouldn't complain, BUT, I'm tired of shovelling that white moisture. Not wet enough to make snowmen, but heavy enough to give you a good workout. The raised beds were just perfect to work and prep for planting and now I have to wait again. siiggggghhhhhhhh

Just as I could bring those dogs in.....without 4 inch paw prints all across the carpet....it is misty out...so the whole back yard, where they are allowed to run will be muddy again. I'm glad I don't have nice carpet...hope I'll be able to afford something new when they leave.

I couldn't believe it when I looked out this morning. My lawn is covered with a thin layer of snow. My first thought was "no one told me it was going to snow".

Chicken wire is good for keeping chickens out of the garden. It's going to take fencing to keep them out. Chickens aren't affected by hot peppers.

Wow!! Is this *really* Dichondra?!?!?! It has a reputation as being delicate and difficult to raise - this stuff is bullet-proof!! It gets tromped on all the time, couldn't care less!! Amazing... I think I'll just let it grow. It *does* seem to let certain weeds through easily, as I'm reading on other sites. However, the ones I most want to avoid (various versions of foxtails) seem to shun it, which is fine with me...

I've got some Walking Stick that's in the ground, and it looks fine, although it does tend to drop a fair number of leaves in the fall. I'm in the Seattle area and we have had a week of low 20's temps every night for a week and the ground has been frozen here, too. I think the one you have in the pot should be brought in, warmed up, and given some water and light by a window. Q. t. can be expensive, so, if that pot doesn't recover by late spring, send me an email: I've got a pretty big clump, and I could probably send you a division.

LOL, it does look strangely like the worms had something to do with it, doesn't it? :D I've already run the gamut: dogs, chickens, bunnies, moles... what's one more garden guest, really...? I'm pretty much counting on the likelihood that if ANY of these little baby plants survive and grow, they will get to a point where I start having hope, and then the deer will come to visit. Sigh... Next year, I am building a maximum security prison around my garden before I ever bring the first seed or plant in...

My yard's been mud for about a month. I would rather have rain than snow and ice. My daughter wtrecked our car Feb 12 when we had an ice storm. Thursday March 20 is the first day of spring and Easter is this coming Sunday!

You had dry ground?!?!?!?!?

There's still two feet of snow on the ground here.
Two days in the past three months the temperature has gone above freezing melting some snow but then turning into lakes of ice.

I am sure sick of winter....

noticed the wind is coming up and now it's gone from rain to a mix...sigh...i do agree it's good to build up the lakes, but you should see the ruts in the shoulder in front of the house...
