You might be drinking tap water, even if you are buying bottled water. A lot of bottled water is regular municpal water. Bottled water is no safer than what comes from your tap. It could have the same or more of the pharmacuticals in it than what comes from your tap.

Also - most bottled water does not contain flouride - if you have kids - you might want them drinking flouridated water instead.

AquaFina (Pepsi) and Dasani (Coke) are muni waters. Most of the big jugs are muni water also.

I have heard on the news this morning about the findings - but this isn't new. They talked about this quite a while back. Although the amounts they are talking about are quite small - it is worrysome.

I have Well Water and a Water Purifing System in the Kitchen.

Love my Well Water. I get so upset when people visit and refuse to drink my Tap Water. People are actually surprised that I don't keep bottled water.

Other than the cost of electricity my water is free. Why would I pay for bottled water at those prices.

Bottled water will have a huge impact on the environment - all those bottles, what a waste! I do like the convenience of bottled water on the go though. I admit to refilling the bottles with my own water several times. I run the empties through the dishwasher to clean them.

I have well water also - some people don't like the taste.

I have a double filter on my fridge. That seems to make it better tasting. Also, I think cold water just taste better anyway.

Whew - the last slide showed that my city tested negative.
It was interesting to see what grugs are in the water. For example, some areas showed anti depressants, some showed anti Anxiety, upstate NY showed caffiene.

I'll pay for the bottled water...hate the taste of tap. I know what you're saying about the bottled water being about the same, but it just tastes better to me. Our tap water is nasty! We drink alot of water, I don't buy the little bottles much because we go throught it way too fast, but we do fill our big bottles at the water stores. I know, I know...they aren't spring water or any different, but the taste is and that's what I'm after.

When I saw this on the news this morning, I wasn't surprised at all.

For years I worked for a mental health agency. The "official" way to dispose of unused or expired meds was to flush them down the toilet. The pharmacy even told us that this was the proper way to dispose of them, after I called numerous times asking them to pick up unused medications because I felt very uncomfortable flushing thousands of psychiatric pills down the toilet straight into the water supply. It really freaked me out that I could be drinking anti-psychotic and mood stabilizer meds in my water.

Well for those that would be offended when someone refuses to drink the tap water,remember this.

I am one of those ppl...NOT because I wouldnt want it,I actually "prefer" the taste of "fresh" water,but CANNOT have it.

I just went thru yet "another" 4+ months of lying on the couch,and running to the washroom up to 28+ times a day.

I had salmonella in 87 and e-coli in 92,and they have left my "gut" super sensitive to water....ALL tap water.

Turns out,that the main thing in tap water that affects me is the minerals.

I can't even drink it if its been boiled...

Bottled water,on the other hand,"may" come from a city tap,but it is processed,put thru rigorous systems,including osmosis and ultra violet lites....so the odds of there being actual medications in it are really pretty slim

The bottled water I drink,which is a common plain old water,not some fancy status symbol water,HAS fluoride AND sodium.

I admit to having flushed my prescription painkiller medications in the past. I've always been worried about someone stealing them out of the trash. I guess it would be better to put something nasty in the bottle with them to destroy them instead.

I keep bottled water on hand for trips and to use in case we have an emergency. We have public water to drink from the tap. I don't always trust it. I've had dirty water and blue water come out of the tap straight into my white tub. Yuck!

Our tap water also smells like rotten eggs sometimes.....they say it's prefectly normal and it's safe to drink. I don't trust them. I will pay 35 cents a gallon to have water with fresher taste and no smell.

This is nothing new. Every so often they come out with another scarey article on this. With newer technologies we are able to find more and more teeny tiny amounts of anything we look for in everything. Just because it's there does not make it a danger to us.

Every home should have a reverse osmosis system for drinking/cooking water. Got my first one 28years ago and never regretted it,-- when you consider what "bottled" water costs it is really worth it.

Years ago it was mentioned that one reason that kids are so big these days (not fat) is because of the hormones in the water source that has been excreted from women taking birth control pills.

I don't drink tap water straight from the tap because of the chlorine taste and in the summer the zebra mussel taste so I keep a jug of Brita filtered water in my fridge. I am more concerned with the lead in the pipes that bring the water into my house than anything. In my home I haven't had a sip of unfiltered tap water in over 20 years unless I swallow it when brushing my teeth.
