If you don't have a dresser in the house that you can "spruce" up for the baby, I recommend you don't buy one. I have a 3-drawer one for the baby but the drawers are a pain to open and the clothes get so jumbled up in it. I'm about to move and it's going out in my first yard sale. I found that a bookcase works great for kids clothes, especially the shorter ones (to avoid them toppling over). I found one that has dividers in the shelves, it has rows of square cubbies, each cubby roomy enough to hold 5-6 complete outfits. I keep my toddlers clothes in outfits, i.e., each pair of pants is folded around a matching shirt. In the morning, my toddler can pick out an outfit and I know it'll match. DH can get him dressed for church or for a play day outside, he knows to go to the proper cubby, Church clothes or play clothes. Kids clothes are cute so there's no need to keep them hidden in drawers. I find that I use more of the outfits. In the past with dressers, on outfit or two would get lost in the bottom and would never get worn before my son outgrew it. I'll never buy my boys a clothes dresser now, unless they seriously want one as a teenager. I may even get a couple bookshelves for me and DH, tho I wonder what DH would do if I started putting his clothes in "outfits", hee, hee. The previous advice about changing tables is great. See if you can borrow one for the first month, after that, you'll probably be changing the growing, wiggling, grabbing everything in reach baby more on wider open spaces (floor, bed, couch...). And I second a stool to keep your feet up! I think my favorite piece of furniture is the foot stool!! I didn't use a glider or chair, found the corner of the couch the coziest. A recliner would be excellent tho.

My DS's room is not brand new or coordinated at all. I'm a BIG believer in re-using and re-cycling things. I have a second hand crib, dresser, changing table and carved oak wardrobe. Paid $150 for ALL of it. I have refinished all the pieces so that they look nice. I have a really comfy upholstered rocking chair I got at one of those half-off of half-off sales. Paid $100 for it. Got a bookcase for free, from a school that my husband and I volunteered at. They were getting new furniture, and this one particular bookcase was going to be tossed out. They gave it to me, and I brought it home and fixed it up. As far as wall decor....I got some cool peel-n-stick things that have all kinds of fun, colorful images....bumblebees, snails, spiders, flowers, ladybugs. I can peel them off the wall and move to another location, if I want. $4 at the DIY (do it yourself) store in town. The curtains I got in a second hand shop. They are designer curtains (lined and everything) that have sailboats, stars and moons, houses, airplanes... They look awesome, and I paid about $15 for them. I went to some shops in town around Christmas, when they had all their xmas displays in the windows. I asked them what they were going to do with those decorations after the holidays. Most had plans to re-use them again next year, but one shop had extra decorations and just GAVE me some. What they are, are pieces of cardboard that have different colored metallic surfaces....purple, red, blue, green. They were hanging down - about 8 pieces of cardboard to each strand - in the display window, and made cool, different colored patterns on the clothes when they reflected the light. I took them home, and shortened them - 4 to a strand - and hung them from the ceiling in DS's room, near the window. The reflected patterns on the ceiling and walls are so neat, and DS LOVES to watch them. Again, the shop gave those to me, because I had the nerve to ask, so they were FREE. Other things - sheets for the crib (I have 4 sets), the rug -I got on sale (like, MAJOR sale) for a grand total of $40. So...all totaled (minus my own labor and refinishing materials), my kid's room cost me $309.00 . I had to squeeze all the work around my full-time job at the bank, but I considered it a labor of love.

I know this is an old post but I wanted to comment and also hear back from the OP to see what she came up with. I immediately thought about "remove the closet door and hang a curtain" b/c this is what I did first with my nursery. Any door takes up 3x3 feet of space so it's a no brainer - get rid of the door. I use a tension rod for my curtain - made it from a cute piece of fabric that was on sale. The second thought I had was to rearrange the "sections" of the room. I would move the crib and rocking chair to the right of the entry door - by the window area. And then move the dresser and shelf to the left side, next to or opposite the closet. The reason is: there is probably more movement in front of dresser/shelf than in front of crib. You just get the kid in and out of crib, and then sit in the rocking chair. But with the new arrangement, you can let the toddler play in the open area on the left.

I love, love, love a craftsman style home. However yours is not staged right. It screams there's not enough room to live. The advice about the pod is excellent. Below are my observations based on some of the pictures: #8, 9: Get rid of the kids toys in the room, Get rid of that rug that just looks dreary. The floors are beautiful. Highlight them. I agree about getting rid of a good deal of the sectional and make it smaller so it fits the room #10: If those are family pictures on the divider between the living room and dining room, get rid of them. People want to imagine themselves living in the house, not your kids. #11: Agree nothing on top of the fridge. Nothing on the window sill. No dish rack. That implies the dishwasher doesn't work. No mixer on the counter. Only one thing! Make it the knives. #12: Way too much on the counters so anyone coming into the house feels they won't have room for their kitchen supplies. Get rid of them or put them away in the pantry. It looks like you have a keurig and 2 coffee machines, a Kitchenaid, a toaster, a tray with stuff, a towel holder (which should be next to the sink!) and something that looks like a sponge on top of the microwave. Where will the new owners put the stuff they need to cook? See how they'll think? #13, 14: Make sure your bed looks like its a bed in a magazine, not sloppy like that. People wonder if you can't even make the bed, what else are you not keeping up. Also just the first shot. The second shot showcases the bed and makes the room look too small. And yes, open the shades! #15: Get rid of 1/2 the toys in the playroom! Make it so half is a playroom and half looks like a game room or tv room. #16, 17: for the photo, take the rocker and the baby sit in out of the room. Just the crib and the dresser/changing table. Get rid of photo 18. #19: for the photo just the bed without the pop top and the dresser. Get rid fo the rug that looks like a bathroom rug. Get rid of picture 21 with the holes in the wall. #22: take a pic where the recycle bin and the garbage bin aren't in view. The idea when selling a house is you're selling a "fantasy" of what life could be like. Not reality. Make it look like an Ozzie and Harriet house. A fantasy where anyone would want to put their bed.
