What did you go to get rid of your tummy after baby? (more)

I had a baby girl 5 months ago via c-section. Prior to being pregnant I had a pretty tight stomach and now it's just stretched out I guess. Does your stomach permanently stay like this or will ab crunches help? I mean it just kinda hangs there!! It's mainly my lower stomach. I just want to know if it will tighten back up on it's own some or if I am doomed to this forever!! :-)

Well, you can tighten things back up, but the way I've always understood it, it's not going to be exactly the same as it was before the baby. Well, that is unless you want a really rigorous work out like models or singers or actresses. Most people still have a pouch to some extent down below your tummy. At least the people I know do.

Good question, I had a section three months ago and my belly is horrid. I have this roll and I have no idea how to get rid of it.

I haven't been able to exercise yet either since I hurt my back. I am only allowed 2 minutes per day and they are spine exercises. I cannot wait to be able to do my Tae Bo tapes.

Devorah, After he retires, will your husband have each and every hour of each and every day crammed full of stuff to do? After a short while of running around kicking up their heels and getting a lot of the stuff done that they'd been looking forward for years to doing ... ... some freshly-minted retirees ... ... sit around and get bored. Some wives get fed up (well, frustrated) with hubs spending quite a lot of time around the house. They were used to having the house to themselves (for most of the day). When I talked to folks in seminars about retirement, I suggested that some men, used to being involved in many things, take to following their wives about the house, suggesting that if she were to do such and such a task in a little different way, it would be easier, take less time, be more efficient, etc. But that it might not be a god idea to follow that practice if there were a gun in the house. Or a baseball bat. Also said that Tom retired one day, and next morning was sitting in his favourite chair, reading the paper. After a few minutes, he put the paper down and looked around. Picked it up again and read a while longer, then put it down again and looked around. After about five times of this, Marje says, "Something wrong"? "Where's breakfast?", asks Tom. Marje replies, "You retired yesterday, didn't you?" "Yes," says Tom, "What's that got to do with anything?" "So did I", says Marje, sweetly. After Tom contemplates that answer for a moment or two, Marje continues, "I'll tell you what - I'll get breakfast now, and after breakfast is over, we'll sit down to discuss who's going to do what around here. How does that grab you?" We don't have record of Tom's reply. But this story seemed to receive a more positive response from the female portion of the audience than from their counterparts. Are there some interests of his in which you might develop an interest? Some of yours that might interest him, when he has more time on his hands? Perhaps you can develop some new paths that might be of interest to you both, when he isn't burdened by work any longer. The common yellow oxalis we have here has tiny "bulbules" (sp?), which lurk 12 -18 inches under the ground. You can easily pull up the plants, of course, but those tiny bulb things stay under the soil, and up it comes again. I once had a gardener who decided to eradicate it from a flower bed which is about 12 feet long and 6 feet wide. He actually dug up the top 2 feet of soil, and sifted it by hand to get all of the tiny bulbs out. That worked for the first year, but by 2-3 years after he did that, back the oxalis came. So, being lazy, what I do is just admire it in the Spring, except where it is trying to smother other plants. Then just pull it out around those plants. By late Spring here it has died down, and I pretend it is gone. Of course, it comes up again the next Spring. It is one of our first blooming plants to bloom (starts Jan/Feb), so I just regard it as such and let it be mostly. If you absolutely cannot stand the texture, sure go ahead and skim it smooth but I'm going to guess you'd be willing to live with it since you said smooth walls would be your preference. You do not need to skim the entire wall (and actually you'd have to do the entire room) for this one little rectangle. Even if you can't achieve a 100% perfect texture match, you will never notice it with this small of a repair as long as it's a close match. Just fill the void with drywall mud so it's smooth with the wall and feather it out onto the wall. After it's dry you can check it with a level or straight board to make sure it's level. Lightly sand if you need to, get some spray texture that matches what you have, spray it on and knock it down with a drywall knife. I would normally not recommend spray texture but this is a small area and the knock-down part of it is easier to match than if you weren't knocking it down. I wish my drywall repairs were this small! I've had to repair areas 10x this size and the drywall paper was torn to boot! I've never had a problem matching the texture and I'm a walking, breathing perfectionist. You can do it! It's very unlikely you'll even be able to find someone willing to do this small of a repair. Ps, be sure to remove the plastic screw anchors.

IRC does not have a requirement for window screens, but many county and municipal housing codes do require them. In some cases, the local codes may make an exception for homes with air conditioning. Also, the FHA, HUD, and USDA mortgage programs specify that screens be in place and in good condition. The USDA inspection checklist, for example, states that windows “must have an insect screen in good repair.” Damaged windows screens, however, are always called out for repair. When an openable window has an empty slot for a window screen, an inspector may call it out as a defect for repair simply because there was one and it is gone.

My tummy was flat again pretty quickly, but felt kinda weakened and flabby for months. I've never had a c-section, and so was able to exercise and do crunches again right away, which (I think) helped immensely.

I have heard that with a c-section, it's easier to get your tummy flat again if you had a bikini incision - the other kind is harder to recover from. Maybe someone with c-section experience can discuss this?

I had a c-section 7 mos ago. I pretty much lost the weight right away & didn't do much to exercise either. I don't have a flat tummy, but it's no different than before I had the baby, aside from stretch marks & a numb incision line.

I lost all my pre-pregnancy weight by 3 months post pardom, BUT my body shape has definitely changed. It is amazing that I weigh my pre-pregnanacy weight, but my stomach has a little roundness too it now. ;-) I think our bodies are never quite the same after kids.

I also had a c-section. That made it hard for me to exercise since I still have some pain with strenuous activity. I was going to start working out soon, but now I am pregnant again.

i had a c-section 11 weeks ago (to the day!) and i think i still have about 10 pounds to go to my prepreg weight.

my stomach was awesome before! not bragging, but a had a tight tummy with a line down the middle! i still have a line, but it's the one from being pregnant!

i had a low low down bikini cut, way below any bikini i would ever wear! i started doing sit-ups and yoga again a couple of weeks ago and i just hope in time my tummy will look good again! it doesn't look all that different anymore, just fatter.

my advice, drink lots of water, eat healthy, and work out!

I had two c-sections and my belly is as flat as it ever was. Yes, I had the "bikini cut" and it does help.

Oh, it only took about 2 months to get back to normal for me. Breast feeding really helped. Just because you've had a baby doesn't mean you'll always have a "pooch."
