Do you love to read decorating blogs? Pls help.

Ok, I'll admit it, I love reading blogs. Lots of good ideas and endless inspiration.An addiction perhaps. When you are reading a blog,somewhere on the page, the blogger mentions HER favorite blogs. This provides limitless additional reads. So, here's my problem:I can't find a certain blog.Here's what it was about and maybe it will sound familiar to you. It was about a mother/family who returned to the Boston area after 9/11. She mentioned how that event made her understand her need to be near her family. She's re-doing her older Boston home 1 room at a time. Most recently, the blog showed a screened porch redo.Also,she had a fabulous powder room using chang Mai dragon wallpaper.Anything sound familiar? I cannot locate it.

I share your addiction, and now I want to read that blog too! It doesn't sound familiar to me but I hope someone here can help.

Sounds interesting. My favorite and well only one I look at from time to time is Cote De Texas. I have read a couple of baking blogs but not much, mostly just because I got redirected to their site from a recipe.

Good luck in finding your blog, it does sound interesting!

I do have her blog saved! I need to bump hers closer to the top of my list. I like the mix of fabrics she uses. I have a valance made out of that floral fabric on the couch (red pillow) but in the blue colorway. I think it's Raymond Waites if I remember right. Puuurdy.

Here's a link to my blog. I use blogger. There are plenty of options on page layouts and color choices to select from and you can change your format anytime. My blog is geared toward the general stuff in life. My kid, my house, general nothing-ness. Mostly for sharing stories and photos for my family & friends since I live 2 and 3 hours away from them and don't get to have weekly visits to grandma & grandpa's house like I did when I grew up. As for how often do I post & what topics come best? I average about 1-2 posts a week. Sometimes a couple more, sometimes less...just depends on what happens around here. Just look at my tags on the blog and you can see the things I post about most...my daughter and my house. I just keep things simple and don't over-think any post. AnnaA - Yes, it's all volunteer time (although, as with all bloggers, I make some money on ads from Google Adsense). But it's a very relaxing night-time ritual; my brain is tired from working on the computer all day. Sitting in a big easy chair while watching HGTV, posting photos and categorizing kitchens is actually fun! And it keeps me busy so I don't order things on amazon. :-) I had tried to create a new FKB similar to Houzz where you could upload your own photos but it got to be too complicated and I was so busy working on the new site that I didn't add any new kitchens to the existing FKB. (Maybe in the future.) For now I'm the only person who can make updates. So just send me an email (starpooh at gmail dot com) with a link to your new photos and I will update them. I use watermarking software to add the owner's name to each kitchen. It's easy once it's all setup. wags848 - Are you viewing the FKB from a computer, tablet or smartphone? Decorating a reading nook...HELP!

What a great reading nook! I don't think this room needs much help at all. You have a rug and curtains all set. You will eventually get a seat cushion. There is a lovely space for some art- no need to rush that- the right pictures will appear. I would start with some throw pillows that will work with the eventual seat cushion you buy. I would consider if the space could use a console table opposite the bench. A nice landing spot for some books and magazines and a cup of tea. Would some sconces look good on the wall with the bench? Maybe you could decorate the bench wall with a framed wallpaper panel (framed with moulding, not picture framed.) I am always concerned about where my head rests when there is a bench against a wall like that- so it limits art installation. But really and truly you have a great space. Don't rush yourself. It will come together very nicely.

Does anyone else feel duped by most blogs? I feel as if I am being misled into advertising....like when you think you are watching a TV show and it turns out to be an infomercial!!!

I never understand how you find blogs? Do you google "decorating blogs"?

Sorry ratherbesewing I can't help but if you have any good blogs to recommend I'd be interested.

None of the above mentioned is the blog I have been looking for. As for my favorites, they are: Centsational Girl, Design Indulgence, Yellow Cape Cod,Sarah M Dorsey and Kim Macumber. Be prepared to become addicted!

I'm totally addicted to blogs, and I have a blog. I'll keep looking for the one you mentioned.

You can google "design blogs" and get a list of popular ones. You can find them through Apartment Therapy, Houseblogging.com, and even magazines like House Beautiful and Better Homes and Gardens either have blogs on their websites or list them in issues. There've been many blogs mentioned here, like Southern Hospitality, A Country Farmhouse, For the Love of a House, to name a few. Once you get to a blog, they usually list blogs they read.

Some I've been reading lately are An Urban Cottage (he's in Cambridge), Elements of Style (just moved to Newton Centre, MA), In the Little Yellow House (northern New Jersey), Your Home and Color Coach (Boston Metro West) and SoPo Cottage (Maine). I also like to read Martha Stewart's blog for a taste of lifestyles of the rich and famous.

Other popular ones are Decor8, Centsational Girl, Colour Me Happy. If you like old houses there are some on myoldhouseonline.com.

I like reading decorating blogs. (I figure it's better than watching t.v. :) Some seem more about advertising, while others don't. The latter are the one's I enjoy most, just a talented person sharing some fun. I don't care for the one's that seem to want to "give away" some item they got free from an advertiser. I have to admit, I do get overwhelmed sometimes, and just have to walk away.
