Positano-- Sorry this is a little late-- I didn't see your reply when you posted it. But in answer to it, you might want to read a thread that Stacey posted over at "that other tile forum" (GW won't let me post the name for some reason or a link) called Help solve MYSTERY? Marble tile shower floor always "wet" in some areas?. To this day, I still don't know what caused the problem, nor does anyone else, no matter WHAT they (Artistic Tile) say. No one can prove to me what the problem was, and every possibility that's been suggested, I can tear apart technically speaking. Even one of the top forensic experts in the country (Dave Gobis) got in on this, and couldn't come up with a definitive answer. One thing I DO know for sure, though. I was skeptical about sealing the floor to start with, and after it was sealed, moisture had trouble excaping the stone, and it stayed dark in areas. After I tore it up and redid it, Stacey left it unsealed, and she's had no discoloration problems (or any others, that I know about!) since.

A quart will do fine. As for the grout, you CAN seal it if you wish, but most of the grout manufacturers (at the very least, Mapei and Laticrete, and I believe TEC, as well) are adding chemicals to the grout to stop mold and mildew in its tracks. It still wouldn't hurt to seal the grout if you're so inclined. That said, I have to say that in my OWN installations (in MY homes), I've yet to seal a single bit of grout, including the tub enclosure where I'm living now. I'll let you take it from there. :-) If you DO decide to seal the grout, though, yes, you can use the same sealer. Also, if you can't find the sealers any place else, John Bridge has an on-line store on his site that carries Stone Tech.

Bill, Another question about sealing marble, if you don't mind: What type of sealer do you recommend if you want enhancing properties? We recently had Crema Marfil put in our master bathroom (on the vanity) and our fabricator thought it would look better honed and I trusted that I'd like it. Unfortunately, I'm not crazy about the look as it too so much of the color out of it (it's such a "quiet" marble anyway that I feel like it robbed it of any beauty it had in the first place!). Also, where do you purchase these sealers? Do places like Lowes or Home Depot carry them? Many thanks!

It's important enough that you try and get in touch with your installer and find out what he used. if you can't, then I'll recommend one of the others.
