I see the growing tips Ken alludes to. They look fine. It would be my guess that the plant was not hardened off before it was put outside (thus sun scorch). My second guess would be that the soil might still be too cold for the vine to be happy? (If the nights are still below mid fifties, try covering the plant with a light fabric.) Keep it watered and chances are very good it will be fine in a couple weeks, as Ken said. When you see it putting on new growth, then cut off the disfigured leaves.

Basil gets that blackspot a lot I find from watering and having the soil splash up, its pretty common. I would suggest mulching around the base when they come up next year with pinestraw. Skip the commercial mix and go with something like black cow manure and mushroom compost. Or mix in peat and cow manure along with a commercial mix and it will cut down on this as well. I have found that basil needs to stay wet to grow a lot, but also needs to be dry. It is very similar to mint and salvia in growing requirements. It is also the time of year when basil goes to seed in the deep south as mine is doing so I start into watering the base once a week just for seed production as the rain just slowed down. Try to not splash water, I treat basil like roses.

Seeing all these freeze damage pictures sends my mind back to our Hurricane Wilma aftermath. My trees, most of which were 8-15 years old at that time......80% blown over, some uprooted entirely. I have video of my yard and I can't even bear to look at it. I had to hat rack all the canopies and pull the tree into the best up-right postions that I could with the car, propping them up with the heavy branches that we cut as braces. Worked non-stop for the better part of three weeks (while we had no power) cutting and hauling what seemed like mountians of debris and cut branches to the roadway for pickup. I shudder to think about ever having to do it again. The good thing about tropical fruit trees, however, is that they are resilient. I think I had Post Traunmatic Stress disorder after that storm 5 years ago. Anyway, the good news is no one froze to death and trees can be replaced if necessary in the worst case. But it is still very saddening.
