You might want to try posting this on IKEAfans.

I don't have the answer (although I do have an Ikea kitchen), but just in case, why not order a pair of the 125 degree hinges, anyway, just in case - as your Ikea is close by, you can return it if it's not needed. They fully understand that people buy extra stuff when doing a kitchen and expect you to return stuff later.
Don't forget to get the correct drawer fronts, for when you're using the interior-only type drawer (not a cabinet drawer front).

I was lucky that the Ikean Kitchen person spotted stuff like this when I put my order together and made sure I had all the bits and pieces.

Since it is close, I am actually doing my order in pieces. I am just buying the boxes tonight, then I will get all the "bits", and finally the doors (I am painting them, so it will take awhile for those to go on anyways).

If you can wait, kitchen sale is March 12.

First, I wouldn't stack the 12" wide boxes. I would get a 15" wide tall pantry and cut the top and bottom to 12" wide, then put it together with deck screws. You can buy the 12" wide drawers separately. They come in a three pack that includes one deep drawer and two shallow drawers. I would not put the doors on hinges. I would attach the doors to the drawers to make two pullouts, one on top of the other. Anything higher, I would put the door front on a hinge and have shelves inside, because pullouts higher than eye-level are difficult to see into. Use the high storage space for things you buy in bulk, like paper towels.

I have the 15" tall pullout pantry and love it. I've got a similar situation to yours, so the pullout was the way to go. I find it's preferable functionally to a door on hinges because you don't have to worry about the hinge interfering with your drawer placement.

You definitely don't want a door to open toward your refrigerator because you will end up dinging your fridge.

morton- that is a really good idea about cutting down a 15". I already went to the store, but there is no reason I can't make a return trip- only 15-20 minutes away.

Since there are not many 12" cabs, the doors will have to stack, as you said. I have this cab underneath a bulkhead, so it is only 84" to the ceiling in this space. What do I do for a door combo then? The 15" wide pantry cabs are 80" tall, whcih would work for the cabinet, but not for the doors. If I used one 30" door and 2 24" doors, or, 2 39" doors, that only adds up to 78" in both cases. Any ideas?

You will have to use 2" of trim horizontally to make up the extra space. I would either space the trim evenly between the doors (so if you use 3 doors you would have 1" of trim between each door), or put moulding at the top.

Without seeing your space, it's hard to say which of the two door combos I prefer. If the pantry is at the end of a cab run, I might do 30-24-24 so that the lowest door lines up with the other base cabs. If it is off by itself I might do 39-39 to keep it from looking busy.

I made a lot of trips to and from Ikea during my remodel. They even took back a couple of cabinets I had assembled, and gave me store credit.

Amberly, you could also cut down the height of the cabinet to make the doors fit perfectly-- but then it would not reach the soffit.

Also, you might want to keep the 12" base cab to use the top, bottom and back as templates for cutting down the 15" tall cab. Or, you could simply use the top and bottom of the 12" base cab, but you'd be wasting the other parts, and you'd still have to cut the back of the tall cab.

morton- thanks SO much. That is exactly what I will do. Thanks so much! I am going to have to make another trip, possibly down to College Park, as Baltimore was out of 2 of my cabs. Talked with GC this morning about it, and he said either way would work. I am building the cabs and having him install them.

Aren't you painting your doors and drawerfronts? Because if you are, it would be really easy to cut down any of the slab-style 15" drawerfronts, if mixing up drawers and pullouts-attached-to-doors would work for what you want to store. (I'm not sure which doorstyle you're using, but I think for all of them, the shallow drawerfronts are slab-style.)
