Cooking with Rose Water

Has anyone cooked or baked anything using rose water as a flavoring? I am planning on making a Rose and strawberry trifle for Garden club. I found the recipe on a blog and here it is.

Rose Filling for cake or trifle

1 large package instant vanilla pudding

3 cups milk

1 large 8oz package cream cheese at room temperature

3 tsp rosewater

1/2 cup powdered sugar

1 small carton cool whip

Combine all ingredients in a food processor except for cool whip. Process for about a minute and put in large bowl. Fold in cool whip. cool for 30 mintes

Cake - I plan to bake a white cake from a mix and add a tsp of rose water to the mix. Then Break cake into pieces. Add 2 cups sliced fresh strawberries and 2 cups fragrant rose petasl mix with 4 cups of the filling in a trifle bowl. Garnish with mint sprigs and rose petals.

I have never eaten anything flavored with the rose water...it sure smells good though!

It is late in the season but I still have some roses in bloom. They are Knockouts so they aren't very fragrant but I will use them as part of the garnish.
