Suggested Red for our Study/Library - BM Dining Room maybe?

David G

Hi there,

We're looking for a good red for our study/library. Something in the vein of an english clubroom.

The room has windows on south and west side and gets good light. Floors are in golden oak. Furniture and cabinet wood are in a light golden(not at all reddish)clear cherry.

The adjoining room is in BM's Concord Ivory, which is a medium gold color, with Cotton Balls for trim. The rooms are separated by a normal width doorway, trimmed in Cotton Ball white. The door is usually open and will ultimately be replaced with a french-windowed door.

We intend to paint in BM Aura (but are happy to use a regular BM color to match).

So:

1) What reds should we consider?

2) Is there a trim color for the room besides white that would be fun? A glossy version of the main red, perhaps?

3) What are the rules for varying trim color in adjoining rooms?

4) Ceiling will need a repaint, as well. We considered robins egg blue but aren't very confident. Thoughts on a colored ceiling?

We love color, but aren'e very sure of ourselves. Appreciate your help, guys. [This was cross posted on the HG colors forum as well. Cheers]
