Nice job, it coordinates well. I can see how you could hardly take something right out of the box as-is and have it work so well with your colors. Did you take any "before" pictures? They would be fun to see. When I was looking for a chandelier recently I saw a few listed as "stone" color. I wondered what they meant by it; what color it really was. It seems like a lot of manufacturers seem obligated to come up with catchy color names (just like clothing manufacturers), and donÂt realize how that makes it more difficult for the consumer to choose. The pictures are often not good enough to tell the difference between shades. I got tired of weeding through Tuscan and Pompeiian and Venetian. (is Tuscan more country like? Venetian more renaissance? Pompeiian more weathered, like itÂs been buried in ashes? Who could tell??) My chandelier is on the way and it will be interesting (I hope not upsetting) to see what the color is like in reality. I am prepared to touch up various items in the room to match it, or it to match them. I have a couple of lamps waiting for that. If you donÂt mind my asking, what kind of paint did you use to paint yours? Did you have any problems, like adhesion?

I saw Debbie Travis do this once on her original TV series, painting a metal door to match its wood frame. She didn't use a graining tool, just four or five colors of paint and an ordinary brush, with a satin varnish at the end. From what I've seen elsewhere, this is feasible if you're imitating a fine-grained wood, not if you want the effect of, say, oak. The key, she said, is to look closely at some wood you want to match, and identify all the separate colors in it, then apply the paint in those proportions. The colors that there is the least of would be applied with a nearly dry brush.

Patches on previously painted walls MUST be primed before applying any other paint. I strongly advise using oil-based primer. Patching materials absorb paint differently from the previously painted wall and the difference is very visible. The oil-based primer makes the paint "hold out" like it does on the other surfaces.
