When I showed my crocheted slipper Christmas present to my neighbour, she said that they are very slippery, to get the kind of non-slip material sold at dollar stores as backing for separate cushions for kitchen chairs and sew some of that on them.

Haven't done it yet, so this is not a recommendation ... but it sounds like a good idea.

Likely you'd need to glue the material to a bath mat ... or use double-sided tape.

Thank you both! The Perfomix Super Grip spray must be what was still lodged somewhere in my memory. Now to FIND it locally without having to buy over the internet and pay shipping that doubles the cost.

Glad to know about the non-slip materials too. I think the spray will be more 'do-able' since I don't fancy sewing strips or corners on four area rugs. (His sink, my sink, shower and tub rugs.)

The floor heat is great, but replacing four rugs every year isn't -- especially when 'no treds' is the only thing wrong with them. I did get use out of two 'sliders' in the car over the winter to spare the carpeting.

The spray is hard to find from what someone was telling me the other day? He said Walmart used to carry it but now you can't find it there.
If you go to Kmart,Target,Walmart they have ohhhhhh shoot what is it called??? Rubber rug padding maybe? Now I am not sure, but it is a grid of rubber squares you lay under a rug that will make it non slip. You can cut it to fit the rug. I used it for a long time under cotton reversible rugs. It's close to the rubber shelf liner in looks.

I'm sure the padding would work well, but...it's more costly than replacing the rugs several times.

I'll continue to *search* for a retailer who sells the spray and try that first. I got too many 'returns' when I googled the company name: Performix. Will try again when I have more time. (Hope this product hasn't been recalled or something!)

I'm afraid the tape wouldn't withstand washing; these are bath rugs and have to have baths of their own sometimes.

There is a product called Saf-T Bak that is used for hand made rugs. You might look in a craft store for this item or probably buy it on Amazon.
