Waddya think about this?

I've been baking cookies for a "thing" at church....and thinking I might as well make some cookies just for me to have....and was perusing recipes.

I am thinking some little savory cookie thingies...like I had years ago at the fancy food show...for maybe $5 per 8 oz of tiny cookies.

Anyhow I have saved this....no idea where it came from...and it thought it sounded good.....but then I started to think...2 1/2 cups of flour and the only real flavor is olive oil and a very little bit of wine.

Sounds blah to me.

Red Wine Biscuits

2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1/2 c. sugar

1 1/2 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper

1/2 c. dry red wine or Marsala

1/2 c. olive oil

1 egg white, beaten until foamy

2 TB lightly toasted sesame seeds

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and pepper. Add the wine and olive oil; stir with a wooden spoon just until smooth.

Divide the dough into 4 pieces and shape each piece into a 10-inch log. Flatten the logs slightly. Brush with the egg white and sprinkle with the sesame seeds.

Cut the logs into 3/4-inch slices. Place the slices 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 25 minutes, or until lightly browned. Transfer to wire racks to cool.

Yield: 2 dozen

Anyone have recipes for savory cookies? I am thinking buttery, or lots of oil...and lots of flavor.

Whatcha got?
