Hi Eleena & Pirula, I should've thought to print out the formula for Archival! I'm off Tuesday...but I'll print the label to inform you of what colorants are used. Sometimes that helps to "understand" a color. * Then, I'll at least be able to tell you what colorants are used. * Quality-wise...Bottom-line, they're both great paints. I'll give C2 a slight nod, because of the 16-colorant system...4 of these are high-strength. This enables more "difficult" colors to be reached, along with more subtle variations. * I'm pretty sure the normal (except Aura) BM lines use the standard 10-12 colorants. * The C2 founders (some of whom were with BM & P&L!) wanted to "beat" (quality-wise) the companies they left!! * The colorants C2 uses are the most fade-resistant they could find...the heck with the cost. Whenever I refill qts. of High-Red or High-Yellow, I'm careful not to spill any!! (give ya a hint only...dinner for two at an avg. resteraunt!....sorry, can't put #'s here!) ALSO: I'll ask which stores can be ordered from; and if we can ship you a sample. Our "big-chips" are $6.99 here. You should maybe order from someone else though...I don't want you to call & give a CC#. Well here's the thing that's changed significantly in the last, I dunno maybe 18 months or so... There are now hand-held colorimeters that cost less than $300 (with accompanying apps) available to anybody and everybody. What that means is you can measure the colors. No need for a blind test - we've evolved waaaaay beyond that. Granted a comparison using qualified observers (people) would still be interesting, I suppose, for some people. But if you're just wanting to answer the question, "is paint color mixed full spectrum really different from regular paint color using black.", it's ridiculously easy to answer it. Like stupid easy. And the data leaves no room for argument. The spectral distribution of the two colors will be different. Spectral power distribution (SPD) is sometimes called a color's fingerprint. The SPDs of the two colors will differ and the one mixed with more pigments (assuming a balanced mix was the objective) will have a more "full" SPD. So, if I were a paint company wanting to clarify our point of view on what full spectrum means, I'd be reaching for the fingerprints. Technology has rendered the debate can you tell the difference between a full spectrum color and a regularly mixed color inane. Yes. Unquestionably they will be different and you can easily and cheaply obtain the data to illustrate it. The full spectrum question to ask here in the year 2014 is how would you like to use that data to qualify and quantify full spectrum color? On the observer end of it, that doesn't change much. Different formulas can result in the same paint color. The fact still remains that through the process that is the human vision system, people experience and respond to color uniquely. It isn't far-fetched that some people would respond to paint colors mixed full spectrum different from how they respond to colors that are not. Whether they can differentiate between the two VISUALLY isn't the point. And this is a much a bigger and deeper issue. A much bigger and deeper issue than just mixing one color two different ways and having the results visually match.

Sorry Monica! It was just an "FYI"-kinda post, for people near a C2 dealer, and who like SW colors. As I stated earlier, the "electronic-fandecks" in the C2 software have very good matches stored. So...if anyone wants to try C2 paint, but use a P&L, SW, or BM color, you'll have a great match. Paintguy1... Not sure where you would've gotten that info., but I'll do some checking myself too. Due to the C2 ownership structure, I doubt stuff like that would be released, BUT ya never know...! Faron

Gosh Lori, I'd begun to think that color didn't exist. If it looks anything like the chip image, IRL, I'm back to the russets. Only saw it on Colorcharts, so far. Weird thing is that every time I see a pic I like and then check that site to see a close match (I know, I know...just curiousity) :) I never see anything by Ben Moore or SW. More esoteric brands like Frazee or Sico, and once in a while P&L. Maybe I just have a strange taste in colors. They (P&L) have some stores that aren't too far away from us. Thanks a bunch!
