NO. I used to love corned beef and cabbage...but a friend of mine made it a few years ago and when I got home I had such bad heartburn I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. It was one of the few times I really thought I might be dying (not exaggerating here). I will never eat corned beef and cabbage again.

My first DH was 100% Irish and grew up in Belfast. Said he never had corned beef and cabbage. Maybe his folks didn't like it. I never did find out why. We never had that at our house either.

One year he asked our friend to bake him a Green Velvet cake for St. Patricks day. She baked it but she and I were smart enough to stay away from all that green food coloring. Our husbands weren't so smart. Let's just say it didn't have a good "outcome".

I made corned beef today. But, I'm not Irish, and I don't do the St. Patrick's Day thing. (I'm German, and Hitler sort of queered the deal for a day for us krauts...)

That said, I LOVE corned beef, and the local store had a sale on point cuts for $1.49 a pound. I got three packages.

I also picked up swiss cheese and rye bread, and I have homemade sauerkraut.

I forgot to buy a corned beef! I always celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I didn't realize it was this close. I never know what the date is anymore unless I come here.
