DH takes this and we heard the 'warning' this morning on the news. He said he 'has never had an suicidal tendencies'. But he said....he 'has had some homicidal tendencies'! LOL Goof!

Dean said that it does so much good for him, that he is not changing anything at this point.

Oh, yes--LOL--know about those homocidal tendencies! Have had a few myself--long before taking Singulair--LOL LOL.

I always wonder just how many people are affected when they report these things? Just a couple? or many?

Okay, as I was typing, the local medical expert came on and clarified. A 'few' people have had suicidal thoughts, no actual suicides connected to the drug, and it's a very small percentage. Good. They always blow these things out of proportion, don't they?

"The company said none of the 11,000 patients enrolled in 40 Singulair trials has committed suicide."

Good grief.....if you drink water you can have suicidal tendencies!!! Crazy!!

i took it from the time it hit the market till 2 yrs ago. i finally decided it was the cause of my chronic bronchitus for 2 yrs straight and i was only in my 30's. it did help w/ my asthma but i got that well under control thru stress relief and allergy controls. i did take welbutrin during the same time i took singulair but could not say if singulair was the cause of my need for SSRi's. i will say that trying to ween myself off singulair was extremely difficult, it did give me nervousness & anxiety, shakes etc...i will never go back on it again and still have 2 bottles of it. i do truely think it was fully the cause of all my respiratory ailments during the entire time i was on it, not to mention even simple things like colds. since i have been off this med i have been completely healthy and this drug works by suppressing your immune response i.e. which allows you to get sick in other ways...~ liz

I have a chronic cough--allergies, asthma. It's uncomfortable, and sometimes I can tell when my oxygen intake is low.

Wouldn't living w/ that cause you to feel depressed? Both from the emotional aspect (that it seems like you'll never be free of this problems) and the physical (you don't have enough oxygen, which affects both brain and energy levels)

So, people w/ asthma and breathing problems are more likely to commit suicide.
People w/ asthma and breathing problems are more likely to take Singulair.

That said, I wouldn't want them to ignore this!

I use singular.
I have breakthrough anxiety that can happen any time over anything. Although I haven't noticed the anxiety getting worse when I use the singular it may aggravate my anxiety.
The chemical makeup of allergy meds can have a tendency to cause nervousness and fidgeting in some people. Both these are symptoms of anxiety so I don't doubt it could cause acceleration of anxiety.

Don't ever ignore anxiety in yourself or others.
Even though the reaction/cause doesn't not affect YOU it is very real to the person experiencing anxiety. Even though it may not lead to the act of suicide or the thought of suicide, anxiety is scary and very very real to that person.
ANxiety doesn't have to happen to YOU to be real to someone else.
