Hi-I wanted special glass so ordered mine from Bendheim Cabinet Glass on line rather than getting glass straight from the cabinet company. Amazing selection. Fabulous company--very nice to work with. I ordered 10 panes of glass. I was responsible for measuring and installed myself--which was a little nervewracking --especially for the 36" high pieces! Anyhow--great customer service, unbelieveable packaging job and super fast shipping. I thought the pricing was competetive as well. (My pattern is European Clear River Ice)

I was looking at that website today. I really love the bamboo pattern.

I don't want to use plain glass. I want some type of design that you can't quite see through.

My Mom chose Silvit - most places have their own names anyway. We bought it and had it installed by a local company. My Mom dropped the doors off and went back and picked them up a couple of hours later.

How much space is between the edge of the glass and the cutout on the backs of all of your doors?

See my other post...I received my doors, and they seem to be about 1/2" too short for the openings. Sound familiar? They are American Woodmark.

I bought the doors preped for glass but then ended up last wee - a year later copying what one woman did on here which I loved which was getting the metal stuff but I put plexi-glass behind it to keep the dust out (DIYing other nearby rooms) - we cut it all and stuck it in there with the small size foam backer rod in the energy section of HD. Worked great and easily removable when I want something different. (Glass was see-through and I changed my mind)

Ours is called Reed or Reeded and we found it at a local Ace Hardware store. Usually you see it cut so that it has vertical lines. We chose to cut it on the horizontal for a more Asian look.

Here are pictures of my white X cabinets with glass inserts. My glass is beveled and adds a bit of sparkle. I also added rods inside if I wanted to switch out the glass for linen curtians - But I love the glass!

I used frosted glass because the bottom shelves are used for everyday coffee mugs and such. The glass was, IIRC, cut at a local glass store, which my KD recommended rather than the cabinet mfr's glass (expensive & hard to ship). Close-up (as you can see, I used frosted glass knobs to accentuate the frosted glass inserts):

Neither of these pics show the glass quite right. I can't see the coffee mugs unless they're right up against the front of the cabinet within an inch or so of the glass. HTH.

Do you think a 20" cabinet single door would look awkward with glass? I really want craftsman grids but cant find any pics that arent double doors, please post any pics, my husband is pushing me to make a decision but i need a visual

I cut the four smaller panes out of antique glass I had salvaged, but had to buy two larger panes at the glass shop.

pcjs--can you elaborate a little more on what you used to insert the glass with? I've been searching the forum for options. We got 4 of our doors prepped for glass & got some great seeded glass at a local place for pretty cheap. But my cherry cabinets are so nice I don't want to use the KitchenMaid installation kit on them--the screws are really long and it's scary. My bathroom vanity has these great silicon half-tube/moldings that keep the glass in and are easy to take in and out (we broke one panel and have inserted radiator screens instead). I can't find them anywhere. The glass guys act like they've never heard of such a thing and suggested that we just use removable silicon caulking.

OK, I meant KraftMaid cabinets : (
