I think I would try changing out the hardware and painting the background wall color above the cabs something dark like a rich chocolate brown. Or a deeper green. That would allow the lighter cabnets to really pop and take center stage. If that doens,t make enough of a change in the room for you then glazing may just be the right thing to do. I think with those cabs glazing could well be the answer your looking for if they were done with a base color thats opposite on the color wheel it would really help to cut the orange your not liking and glazing would be a easier option than a major allover color change. To get a solid color change that matchs on that many cabs would be more difficult then a glaze. I would def. try painting that upper background color first though. I think it would give that kitchen the pop of color it needs to really stand out.

I will pass on something my cabinetmaker said. (I got cherry cabs from him.) I told him I was so excited to get rid of my painted cabs, because I was always washing them. Although, I said, they weren't going to be any less dirty - I just wouldn't notice as much. He said his own personal preference was for wood rather than paint. He said that when you have paint, you're looking at the finish, so anything on top of the finish or any mar in the finish (like chips, etc.) you see more. With wood, you see through the finish to the grain of the wood, so you aren't looking at the surface. I thought this was pretty insightful, and probably true. Paint lovers, don't jump on me. I have a friend with new white cabs, and she loves them and says they are very easy to keep clean. But mine were 1961 Woodmode that we had painted almond in 1990. Especially around the knobs, we were always touching up, and I washed the doors at least monthly. I don't know if a repaint job can be as lasting as factory enamel. Maybe it can with newer techniques.

I have verde peacock granite which is very similar to verde butterfly. For my kitchen I chose to compliment the gold flecks in the granite so I used BM Hillcrest Tan in my kitchen. It is a fairly dark tan so not sure if it would look right with your cabinets. My cabinets are natural cherry. Here is a close up (taken with under cabinet light on)of the granite that also shows a little bit of the paint color. It is very hard to capture the true color of hillcrest tan and even the granite in photos but this gives you an idea. Here is how it looks overall. (I have changed out the white switch outlet covers since this photo was taken) I love the blue green shade in the granite and would have used one of those colors on the wall except for the fact that my dinette table has a blue green Corian top and I didn't want it to match the walls. Here are a couple of BM colors that might pick up on the blue/green in your granite: Sage Tint Turquoise Mist You could even go a little darker with these types of color depending. On your preferences. I think either dark golds or medium to dark blue greens would look very nice with your white woodwork.
