Comforter or Duvet cover?
Comments (44)Here's how I solved my Duvet problem....I also put a sheet under my Duvet cover.............. I was finding it difficult when sleeping with the Duvet and the cover being used as a blanket , then, in the morning it was my bed cover....I'd be all wrapped up in it & it would get twisted as a blanket would.. I felt my bed was never completely made..How I solved this problem was...I bough & put on my Duvet, a White cover. Then I purchased 2 fancy Duvet covers , I like a change... I have the Duvet with the white cover tucked in at the foot of my bed...When I make my bed in the morning, I pull the Duvet up as you normally would..Then.., I just lay my fancy cover right over the top of the White one,,I also tuck that in at the foot of the bed. You would never know that the Duvet itself isn't stuffed into the fancy cover.. At night, I take the fancy one off & sleep with the white one that is permanently on the Duvet. That's the one the gets washed every so often.. You still can't get away from that lumpy look but I don't think its quite as bad when covered with the fancy one,,,..I guess there's no way of getting away from that completely.....It's a matter of getting used to.. Works for me.........See MoreWhy decorate?
Comments (27)" I think some of us are just wired to crave a certain sense of order and placement, and I would wager that most of us who greatly enjoy decorating as adults were also very much into arrangement and placement as children." I'm with AuntJen. I think that controlling one's visual environment matters more to some people than to others. As a child, I loved arranging things-- my brother used Legos to make lots of things; I only made house floorplans and furniture. I had no interest in playing dolls in my doll house, only in setting it up to look the way I wanted. There were many television shows and movies I watched to see the rooms as much as for the characters and plot. I "decorated" my college dorm room and my studio apartment with the same level of interest I bring to my current home. There were years where all I had to work with was hand-me-downs and stuff I pulled of the curb, but I still worked to make my rooms "mine". My mother is the same way-- if she lived in a straw hut, it would be a straw hut with Italian flair. My mother-in-law, on the other hand, bought some furniture and put up some wallpaper in 1972 and hasn't given it a thought since. She's just not interested in it, period....See MorePets as Decor
Comments (103)As you all probably already know, I love cream-colored rooms . . . with pops of color, that is. So . . . my darling little Sasha fits right in, although I didn't plan it at all (and, yes, she's as sweet and cuddly a she looks, too). Gosh, I love this darlin furbaby of mine! Both of them, actually. Our floors are brick throughout, mainly with Oriental rugs here and there. Our newest Doberman, Knight, is a black and tan. He blends into the floor kind of nicely but, again, it was not planned. I am so loving all the great furkid pics everyone has posted. MagdalenaLee, that photo should be blown up and framed. It's wonderful!!!...See MoreTrouble with newly adopted kitty
Comments (40)My nerves would be shot if I left my cats outside. If one didn't come home, I'd be worried to death and have to search the town till I found it. Of my 15 cats, only the first one was allowed out and that changed too. He was a Siamese and we lived in the country then for a brief time. Then we moved to the suburbs but lived on a dead end street. One day Simon went missing and was gone for two days. He finally returned and we figured he got locked in someone's garage. Then he got into a catfight and we didn't realize it until he got very sluggish. We parted his fur and saw a wound that had become infected. Off to the vet, antibiotics, and he was homebound the rest of his life which was 20 years. Loved that cat and so did my kids. My daughter has his twin (female though) and a larger lighter male, her brother. Of course, they are strictly inside too....See MoreRelated Professionals
