It took ages for the worms to get interested in the coffee grounds in both my bins and my compost piles - like 2 to 3 months. I get absolutely heaps - 20ltre bin daily from my work cafe - I work in a Museum and Museum visitors like their latte - any way... The majority of the coffee grounds either gets scattered straight onto the garden or layed in my compost bins if I'm setting a new one up. The worm life is unbelievable when the compost comes out. Same with the worm bins - alot more activity but only after the grounds are mixed with other greens/food and get a good soaking. When white mold starts to appear on the grounds is when the worms get interested. That said it does take longer than normal food. Mix a lot is my advice....

karigraphy & gina_w - I forgot to mention, we did serve Two Buck Chuck. We didn't tell them till after they drank it. DH's brother considers himself someone what of a wine snob and only buys $10+ bottles of wine. After they commented how good it was and asked what it was, did we tell them. I thought it strange, too. Found this explanation at the linked message board. Since I say "valay", I guess I'm of the lower class...lol. "Found this online. Sounds like both are used. I remember watching "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and Marilyn Monroe saying valet with the "T" sound "The word is an English one and is correctly pronounced "Vall - ett", although mispronunciation as "Val-ay" is common." according to http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=valet , "[Middle English valette, from Old French vaslet, valet, servant, squire, from Vulgar Latin *vassellitus, diminutive of *vassus, vassal. See vassal.]" So which is right? I have always pronounced it "Val-ay" as well as everyone around me. I know people who have been corrected from saying it "Vall-ett" Also, the dictionary.com pronunciation includes both "Vall-ett" and "Val-ay". Yet another regional difference? I am going to delete that line for now, unless someone has something contrary to the American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language.
