Jasdip...Taco salad

Jasdip, just cook your hanburger and drain off grease, put in taco seasoning according to package directions.

Then I put shredded lettuce on a dinner plate, put your favorite ingredients on. I do a couple scoops of warmed refried beans, chopped onion, the beef, cheddar cheese, crunched up/broken hard taco shells, black olives and tomatoes. Top it off with a good amount of salsa. Yum!

I also sometimes do the same as above but put it all into a baked softshell formed into a bowl

DH puts sour cream on his also

I sometimes heat up a few precooked meatballs and crumble them also some canned sweet corn tossed in is good too.
I mix mine in a bowl and cover the leftovers and keep in the fridge for snacking later

Try this- it is great (and for parties too- always a hit)

One pound ground beef cooked with taco season mix
One Head Iceberg lettuce - chopped
    One onion - diced
    One tomato - diced
    One package shredded cheddar cheese
One large bottle French salad dressing
    One bag Doritos - Crumbled/Smashed.

Mix all together in a large bowl and enjoy!

I did much the same, but my DS also liked a can of Ranch Style beans (drained) in the salad. When I cooked the ground beef, I cooked the onions at the same time and added my own seasonings.

We also liked Ranch dressing with this salad. I miss making this for my DS who would show me how much he enjoyed it with a smile and no leftovers. :)

    I also include guacamole/avacodos.

Top it off with some guacamole. I use a couple of avacados mixed with Rick Bayless' Frontera grill guacamole mix. Yummy.

I make one like swimmer 22, but add some cooked rotini to salad and optional taco sauce on top.

I never use a recipe for a taco salad, or for tacos for that matter. I usually put the chips on the bottom and you essentially have a big plate of nachos. Take any of your favorite taco toppings and put on there. I like to add in some crumbled bacon, a little ranch dressing, sour cream (or an onion dip or a bacon dip or a ranch dip...) maybe some BBQ sauce and sometimes some kidney beans. Leftovers often go well. Leftover pot roast or pulled pork is great as is chili, or any number of things.

I cannot wrap my head around the idea of putting salad dressing on taco salad. The toppings are the dressing. Salsa, taco sauce, jalapenos ,guacamole or sour cream.

Taco salad is nothing more than taco ingredients built up on a plate or in a shell.
