Quick comment on Fine Paints of Europe
Comments (8)The pros would love to use that paint every day, but sadly the average customer in America doesn't want to pay for the upgrade. That's because the *on-average* customer has never actually used anything except a $17-$30-ish can of paint and firmly believes that paint is just paint and what they've been using is "just fine". And that is just fine if they're happy with the choice. I've long been a proponent of buying what the budget allows and convenience -- I won't drive more than 45 minutes one-way to get paint and I don't expect anyone else to either. But what's really important is that everyone is allowed the same consideration to make the choice that's right for them without any criticism for their choices. If someone prefers the look of luxury finishes/color and wants to spend the money on the uber paints then that's their business and I'm thrilled for them -- excited that they will get to experience color that way. If someone has a tight budget and Valspar from Lowe's is all they can do, then that's all they can do. There's plenty of paint/color experiences at that price-point too. I prefer to exclusively use the higher-price-point paints. But at the same time, I know it is important to have a range of price-points so everyone can bring color into their life and change environments for the better. From Fine Paints of Europe to Kilz from Walmart, there's a way for everyone to experience -- and afford -- living a colorful life....See MoreWould you recommend an FPE red for me?
Comments (4)I suggest you contact FPE in Vermont and talk to Emmett. He'll be able to help you select a color and provide advice on your application. If your builder has never used FPE, there's a definite learning curve. I've used both Eco Brilliant and Oil Hollandac Brilliant for exterior doors. Eco, being water based, is easier to use. But I've never seen a high gloss finish that compares to Hollandac Brilliant; it's mirror-like. It's difficult to use because it attracts dust particles but I didn't fuss too much when I painted an exterior door (a wooden screen/storm door)and I'm very pleased with the result. It's held up beautifully after three years; looks like new. Here is a link that might be useful: FPE Color Guidance...See MoreMarvin Ultimate double hung are a huge disappointment. see pics
Comments (33)Millworkman, so u sell 98% Vinyl products to the commercial industries..that's great.. Sadly, you did attack me. Exclamation points are a sign of excitement or to show how strongly you feel about what you are saying. Like yelling at me in with your words not your voice. However, I wish I was talking to you face to face or over the phone, much more comfortable for me that way. Whatever,,it is what it is now... i gave too much information. All you need is the Product Code from the Energy Star Label (maybe the Licensee # too) and the websites to go on, ..there are not many people who would think to breaking down the information on the Energy Star Label as I did. I know soo much about Windows..."windows are not just windows" There are Standards that must be followed, paperwork to fill out explaining the test, name of the Lab that will do the testing, an IA to approve, for each unit that is tested, and $$$.$$ for each unit that is tested, if you are a member, you pay less than those who are not members.. The only reason I can think of for constantly attacking HOW I explained my situationand over the facts of the situation, was to distract the reader. People have a tendency to follow along, to be a part, to fit in...that's ok, my own fault for taking the chance. I should have listened to my inner voice that was totally afraid to do this at all..and not posted my situation. I have been trying to explain, since May..before the installation was complete, that these windows are not what I ordered, than find that they are no longer an active windows, they have been in the archives for ...when realizing they told me this much info, they were not willing to tell me how long or when the Energy Performance Ratings expired.... From whom I recieved this information, you can guarantee, is with out a doubt, solid as a ROCK, reliable source! Now don't go and focuses on the fact that I did not receive what I ordered. The fact is that THE ENERGY PROFORMANCE RATINGS, FOR EACH WINDOW, ARE IN THE ARCHIVES..THIS HAS EXPIRED. There really is an explanation date for windows... If you know how to find this out for yourself, do that. oberon476 has short sentences and paragraphs. Consider this as puzzle you downloaded. Have fun with it! We will call it "The Mystery of EPR for Marvin Windows" Find clues the clues in oberon476 biography...remeber, Have fun with it! Nassau Door & Window, E-Z Touch Home Improvement & Remodeling Inc., and Super Enterprises (they distribute Marvin Windows in Queens), .. **Oh, I have to add Marvin Family of Brands also, they told me they Manufactured and Mulled the 2-Wide and the Bay Window..These windows were dumped off on me because I paid in full, by check, on April 3, 2017 when I placed the order with NDW..**can I blame them for Windows from Marvin? Maybe if I put down $200.00 and gave the balance later? I don't know...I need a good set of testicles like you millworkman. 4 months of this...I can not explain the toll this has taken in my life..as this has been nothing but back and forth..as you all have done, not seeing the facts just the nonsense in between...I can not break this down any smaller than I have! I can not move forward. I am holding the family back from moving forward... **. reason for questioning...See MoreEco by Cosentino - recycled glass countertop
Comments (49)I also have ECO by Cosentino in my kitchen, from 2017. I was impressed by their claims that it needs no maintenance (sealing or other) and now I have severe dark staining around the kitchen faucet (possibly due to our hard water), and no idea how to clean it, as their recommendations are to avoid all caustic or abrasive cleaning products. (Might have to experiment, since it's hard to imagine anything will make it WORSE.) (Btw, this replaced a Corian countertop & built-in sink that had a HUGE CRACK running through it, so yeah, no complaints about glass pop-outs or staining, but...) I have Vetrazzo (also recycled glass) in the bathroom, and even though they say to re-seal it, I never have and it looks great 12 years later. I don't know how it would hold up to coffee, red wine, or soy sauce spills, but at least it hasn't had a problem with water! The bad news is that Vetrazzo was bought by Polycor, which has really under-promoted it, and now it's very hard to find. I managed to get a Vetrazzo fireplace mantel in 2017 from a fabricator who had a remnant, but now neither they nor the fabricator who did my bathroom still carry Vetrazzo. I have also had Icestone in another bathroom since 2017 (I guess I am inadvertently testing all the recycled glass countertop materials) and it has also held up well. No water stains. Of the 3, Vetrazzo is my favorite because of the look (the glass bits are bigger than Icestone and just beautiful, IMHO), but I would also go with Icestone again. Don't buy ECO if you're going to have water....See MoreRelated Professionals
