John Lennon (for his legacy and death), Paul McCartney (and Wings), George Harrison (While My Guitar Gently Weeps and other hits right up until the mid 1980s), and Ringo Starr who we all know starred in the Caveman movie (with Dennis Quaid! Hubby likes to say "Lana, zookzook" as Ringo did in the movie). 19 I knew right off, but I loved Candid Camera as a kid and always worried when I brushed my teeth, I'd end up on it. Why? Dunno. Ironically, I thought "a little dab will do you" was attributable to another old hair jelly, Dippity Do. Wonder how many of today have even heard of Dippity Do? That's an oldie too. Didn't know 4 or what Dylan said. I guess I am still somewhat young.

I feel your pain also. I lost that many and probably more. I have lots of name tags gathered together and I won't count because it is too depressing. I also lost perennials and ferns that were here for several years. Have I mentioned the 11 Japanese maples that are history? Then I have the JM's that are struggling to come back but won't be a pretty tree is my lifetime. Along with the losses, I have the hosta that were turned to mush and have come back but they are about 1/4 their normal size. The hosta that were smart and came up late were hit with a hail storm a week ago and now have holes or are shredded. Daylilies that are blooming on short scapes with very low budcounts and a few of those that also commited plantacide this year. And yes, we are in a drought to help with the recovery. I hope I made you feel better because I am now depressed - lol! At least I am not a farmer and don't make my living fighting with the old girl. She always wins.

Luth, I think it's that we, as parents, are more educated now and that our society is more open to Learning Disabilities. When I was growing up, you never heard of Ritalin, Adderal or any of the other meds out there. (I've talked to my own mom about this & my siblings and I were all probably ADD/ADHD.) Actually my nephew is ADD & his psychiatrist told my sis that she was ADHD, just by watching her behavior! I remember my sister having problems concentrating during school (K or 1st grade) because it was boring to her (she later skipped a grade). When our little bro's IQ was tested, it was just a few points from genius. But he's killed all his brain cells now with illegal drug use. Maybe if the resources available now had been available 30 years ago, things would have been different for him. (He did & still does fit into almost every category for ADHD.) I'm the parent of two tween girls. My oldest was diagnosed as being ADHD when she was 4 months into Kindergarten. She had severe behavior problems at school (climbing on the tables, under the tables, talking over the teacher, much more). After she began treatment for ADHD, there was an apparent difference. We (her doctor, her teacher & I) had a very good relationship though it all. She had dealt beautifully with her ADHD for several years & then WAM! Puberty! Actually her teachers last year didn't even know that she was ADHD until I mentioned it. (She's not currently on a 504 plan.) She's always had an extremely large vocabulary. By the time she was in 2nd grade she was reading on at least 5th grade level. She's now in 7th grade & is reading on 11-12 grade level. She's always been exposed to as much as I can expose her to. She's been taking music for the past 4-5 years. (She started on piano, but also taking clarinet & is 2nd chair on her Junior High band.) They both have picked up some foreign language too. (I took German a few years ago & they practiced with me. I've also had to purchase French tapes for them.) Now, my little one (age 10) is quietier than her big sis, but she's also got a HUGE vocabulary. Her school tests reading comp every 6 weeks & hers was 1026 on the Lexile table this past week. She's been reading above 9th grade for the past 2 years. Her teachers last year told me that she would have been in the Gifted/Talented program except that she's TOO quiet! She's taken violin since she was 5 & decided this summer that she wanted to learn flute too. Good luck with your soon-to-be little one.

Thanks everyone. Over the weekend he was at 90-95% of his old self so I was happy. But then late last night he threw up yellow foam. I have been watching his bathroom habits the last few days and I haven't been able to see him poop. I have 2 cats and a litter maid so it's hard (seperating them doesn't work well). I took him in this morning and they did x-rays and he's moderately constipated and he has some trapped gas. The decongestant that they gave him apparently sucks moisture out of mucus membranes so it may have caused it. He had an enema and an IV for some fluids as he was a little dehydrated. I got home and he was foaming at the mouth a little. I don't know what's up with that, guess he tasted something bad. He ran to the litter box then 15 minutes later he threw up his breakfast. The vet said the constipation probably caused the vomiting cause there's not a lot of room for things to go. I'll mention this latest vomiting when I call this afternoon. I forgot to ask if I'm supposed to start his medicine today, or if they gave him some already So I guess that's why he's been lethargic. Poor thing was all cramped up and probably didn't want to move much. Hopefully we'll get all this straightened out. I'm so glad I have pet insurance...I'm almost at $400 and she wants to see him again tomorrow if he doesn't poop more.
