Grrrr. I know exactly what you mean. I ran into the exact same problem. We ended up going with the Brizo Venuto and it's a bit more modern than I'd like, but, alas, it stays. All of the staid looking ones had side sprays. There was ONE I remember from Jado that was kind of both worlds, but it wasn't a pull down, it was a pull out.

Nonetheless, here's a link and this vendor has been a great resource for us. Their prices are unbeliveable.

Oh, I LOVE that Rohl / Perrin and Rowe faucet! I could do without the pull-down, frankly, but I don't want to discourage dear husband's after-dinner clean up efforts! I wish I could find that style with a discreet looking pull-down sprayer. The few in that style that have a pull-down have gigantic heads on them, I find, which seems to take away from the antique look...

The old faucet I actually rather liked. I wish I'd kept it! But alas, two holes, no sprayer, two handles.. But I wish I could find something that hand porcelain handles like that. Has sort of a period look that way. It was like this one, but with a swing arm.

This is not a high arc, but it was the most traditional looking faucet I found w/ a pulldown and single handle which were both my requirements. Whitehaus New Vision:

How about the Grohe Bridgeford? The 3 hole looks a lot like the waterworks faucet you like. The pull down has a bit of a traditional look.

This might not be exactly the traditional faucet that you are looking for, but it is a fusion of modern and traditional. And it has a high arc and pull down sprayer.

I don't know if you've seen the Kohler Vinnata and eliminated it, but, it has...

* Pulldown sprayer
* Locks in spray or stream mode, whichever you prefer
* Memory - it "remembers" what you left it as when you last turned it off
* Single handle/single hole
* Can be "docked" at any angle to allow the water to reach all corners of the sink, regardless of how wide the sink is or where the faucet is mounted.

It may not have a prestigious name, but it's a good faucet.

Whoa, those Waterstone faucets are amazing!! There might be a little too much going on with that giant sprayer for me, though... But I LOVE the other traditional faucets they have. Their contemporary faucets have discreet pull down spouts. I don't understand why they don't offer something like that on their traditional faucets. And further, i don't understand why all of the other pull-downs have such gigantic heads!?

I have seen some of the others you mention. I think my problem is this: some of them (the Kohler and Whitehaus, for example) have a very traditional styling to them, but they don't actually have an antique design. They just have traditional curves... The Waterworks, the Waterstones, and numerous others actually reproduce an antique design. I really like those hook spouts, I realize, and it seems the old faucets were always trim--nothing thick and bulbous... Does that make sense?

Your description of your kitchen and your requirements made me think of this Jaclo Steam Valve faucet. It comes in brushed or polished stainless. The spray hose sits in a trough in the gooseneck of the faucet and lifts out. It is a combination of traditional and edgy industrial. Full disclosure: I've been kind of obsessed with these faucets, but they didn't work out for my needs. I still think they're stunning. Oh, and they are also stunningly expensive! For whatever reason, I am incapable of embedding a link.

You are not alone, I wish someone could design what so
many are looking for. Perhaps Kohler, Delta, Hansgrohe,
Elkay.... will read this and create a work of art for
all our kitchens.

you more that they are not antique(Y) enough. They
mimic but it is not authentic to the design and feel
you are looking for.

I have the Waterstone Towson Gantry in my 1870s home and we love it:

We got the RO drinking water faucet to match and so far they are both working splendidly.

We chose mostly Herbeau throughout our house, in a form over function concession. I am a sucker for the red and blue hot and cold!

buehl's Vinnata is an ideal faucet for many.
It has "shapeliness" not straight lines.
Its sprayer
* locks in spray or stream mode, whichever you prefer
* has memory, keeping the position you left it in when you last turned it off
* can be docked at any angle to allow the water to reach all corners of the sink, regardless of how wide the sink is or where the faucet is mounted.

Some faucets have the first feature.
Some don't and on those you have to hold your hand on the spray to keep it in spray not stream.

A few have memory.
It's good for greens. Washing "produce".

A few have the ability to hold their spray pointing in a range of directions, not just the one and only docked direction.
It's good for the above, and for rinsing down the sink.

Waterstone has a new traditional faucet that just came out with a pull down. It is beautiful.
I had a chance to get my hands on it from the rep and it was love at first sight.
I ended up going with the waterstone PCP in the parche series but I will always be second guessing myself.
