I actually think it works!

If the size works, I think the style would be fine. It doesn't really scream "country" to me, but it does have a vintage look that I think would be in keeping with the rest of your space.

I am not sure about the square shape. I don't get country either- vintage though which I love love. $50 is good too ;) so yes if you think square works for you.

Now that Cooperbailey has mentioned, I see that you do have a lot of other "squares" going on in this space. I think a round (vintage, wood) coffee table would be very pretty in this room!

You need a round pedestal coffee table w/ strong Art & Craft influence. I just saw some on our CL -- let me find it & show you what I meant.

I think it's okay, but you could do better. If you need a coffee table quickly you could buy and use it and the CL it later when you find something more suitable.

bungalow, I saw that ad, too, and was intrigued. I would definitely put a new finish on it, but I LIKED it.

Don't know if you ever saw this round one, link below, but I have also been intrigued by it for a while. I wouldn't put out an ad for anything without cleaning, waxing it and showing it at its best, but this person did. I picture what it might look like fixed up, but the style may not appeal to you.

Thanks everyone. I too think round would work better, but I haven't found one yet. I'm kind of thinking the same as sky: it might at least work until I find something better. I would like to get a table in the room for my 4-year-old to play at. I'm tired of our dining room table (which is our only eating table) being covered in playmobil and Lego.

my3dogs, I've considered that round table many times too! Ultimately I think it is too formal for my taste and room. I love how unique it is, though.

maybe a little plain. Add wrought iron trim, like corner brackets on top, or backplate handles on two sides like your end table for interest, and it would be a good addition....

For $50, it's a go, especially if you need something and you have little ones who want someplace to draw and create things. That's very important. Late, I'd look for a larger, more substantial coffee table. I have to admit I'm partial to round coffee tables; I've had three of them, and they just add a little something to the room. But, this will look nice and it gives you time to decide what you want when you're ready to "invest" in one.

It will work, honest. But don't buy it unless you really like it or else you will end up with stuff you don't even want.

If you get a pedestal table, you can put little kid chair next to it & it would be an instant playtable (I do that) :-)

Depending on the size that you want, you can buy a pedestal dining or side table and have it cut down to the height you like. Somehow it's always easier to get pedestal dining/side table than coffee table. Some even come w/ the side leaf that can be closed up or down. My friend did this to her old dining table and it's perfect. When you want more room to play, open it up. When it's not used, close it down for more space.

This one is not too art & craft but kinda give the idea. And not too expensive either.

Yes, bellaflora, that is exactly what I had in mind. (I even considered the Plow and Hearth version!) I just haven't seen the perfect antique candidate yet. Seems that type of dining table is usually oak, and I don't want oak. Or if I see one, it often has chairs with it, so I don't want to hack the table.

In any case, the seller of this one hasn't gotten back to me, so maybe I'll keep looking.

Hi, I like the table. I would place it square tho, and maybe add something to the top of it in keeping with your art & craftsman theme. A nice woven basket maybe w/ a trailing plant and a stack of nice books. I like it but then I lean more towards an ecclectic look, I don't like to buy furniture in "sets" so everything matches. I like the look you have going on.
