Favorite sad songs?

I'm a picture taking grandma and have pics of the kids doing everything, including crying. I'm looking for a song to put on a dvd (excuse me if I'm not calling the small silver disc by it's correct name. I can't keep up with what each one is, lol.) with a slideshow of the pics that would fit the subject. They're all under 4 years, so nothing too serious. I've considered 'Crying' by Roy Orbison, kd Land, or both. 'The Crying Game' and lots of other sad songs seem too serious. Any ideas? DH has made a couple of these slideshows with subject matter to match a song, and they're very cute. Thanks, Linda

What a great idea. My son did that with backpacking pictures over the years.
What about 'Puff the Magic Dragon' by Peter, Paul and Mary?

That one brown spot with concentric zoning looks like a canker to me, but I wouldn't worry about it. It is probably inactive. If there is any spread in summer it will be slight. Most cankers develop in late winter or early spring. Common advice is to prune out cankers if they girdle over half the circumference of the stem, only because the loss of bark could reduce the future vigor of the cane. I know you probably aren't going to believe me, but I garden in a cool damp climate, I see cankers every year, I ignore them, and they don't do any serious harm. They are normally self-limiting or the rose has an effective immune response. Some varieties are more susceptible, for example 'Brass Band' and 'Mutabilis'. Prune out the dead wood, as Jackie said, so you don't have to look at it.

I am babysitting our 14 month old grandson for his parents' first ever get away with the other grandparents for a long weekend. I sing a song to him to get him to nap that his mom learned in preschool. "Little Duckie Duddle was sitting in a puddle, was sitting in a puddle quiet small. He said, 'It doesn't matter how much I splish and splatter, for I'm a little duckie after all, quack quack!'" He is not talking yet, but I am waiting for him to help me say the quacks. He loves music.

Way way too many to list, or even to bring to mind! My top one is probably Canon in D - My heart turns over when I listen to that song. Second, maybe River Dance. I love so many that are already listed in this thread. Someone mentioned Oh Danny Boy and in that same category is Loch Lomand, two ancient songs that I've sung thousands of times. Used to sing them to my kids when they were babies and still sing them to myself from time to time. I have some favorite hymns... Amazing Grace and This is my Father's World are a couple. Unchained Melody - Wonderful song mentioned above. Many others. I love country western and old time rock. My list would be dozens if not hundreds!

This is difficult to narrow down. Here goes: Book: "To Kill a Mockingbird". I read it at least once a year. Song: "Till There Was You" , Beatles. DH and I used to sing it to our babies. He would play it on the guitar and we would both sing. Maybe that's why they went to sleep so quickly-to escape our singing! Movie: Dr. Zhivago. On a snowy night DH and I went to see the movie and were only a handful of those who braved the storm to see it. It was in an old theater with the red velvet drapes around the screen. Didn't Johnny Ray (sp) sing a song in the 50's "Cry"? If your sweetheart, sends a letter, of goodbye, you'll feel better,.... my cousin did a pantomime in a talent show, to that song 50 + years ago, when he was about 6.

My favorite sad song is Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton, but not sure if that would be a good song for what your doing. But the song makes me cry everytime I hear it.
Also one by Wynonna Judd...is a really good one. Its called Heaven help me....its beautiful.

I love Louie Armstrong's "What a Wonderful Life". I have it and play it in first position when we sit out by the firepit at night. It's just beautiful, makes me feel so happy and blessed.

Wow, what a bunch of great suggestions. I don't know how to make these dvds either, but hubby figured it out. We don't know how to add film to them, or even edit film or digital films, but he'll figure it out eventually. We used the 'Turn Around' song in a slideshow of DGD, who's almost 4. I do remember a lot of these songs, and some of them are personal favorites. I'll find all of these, even the hee haw one. Some may be good for future slideshows. Thank you all so much.

For your first question, I linked you to that page. It just happened to be that particular song opened to its own page, so that's the URL I used. Was glad I didn't have to upload it to my server, which is what I did with the song playing in this thread.
