Weird, happy drywall experience mystery

We have a long, wide hallway/art gallery that connects the house with the guest quarters. There is a lot of texture on the walls, which are painted SW Martha Stewart Bone China. We had an area where the dry wall tape "popped" due to dry weather. The company that came out to assess and repair is a family-owned, multi-generation group of artisans. The son said it would take two of them 4 hours to cut out, repair, and re-texture the wall. He said he was sure we would be able to tell there had been a repair because there is so much texture and because of the track spot lights for the art in there. He also said we would have to repaint ourselves. (No problem, I enjoy painting.) Well, they did the repair Friday, were utterly immaculate, no paint has been applied, and we absolutely cannot tell where it was. The wall dried to match not only the texture, but also the color! How could that be? Should I still repaint? How long should I wait?
