Any feedback on LG Hi-Macs Solid surface counter top
Comments (0)We were all set to go with a Corian counter top with undermount sink in our bathrooms (new home construction). My builder just got new products and they had a surface that looked just like corian but it is called LG Hi-Macs acrylic solid surface. Does anyone know anything about this? It costs the same as the Corian. We like one of the colors they offer....See MoreDoes solid surface counter need full sub-top?
Comments (8)GauchoGordo 1993: I have first-hand experience with DuPont's warranty department. They flew a tech out to one of the first Zodiaq jobs in my area, one of mine, and flew her back out to demonstrate the process of etch filling they developed for the job and then wrote a technical bulletin which remains in effect the last time I checked. The etch was from customer abuse and they ate it anyway. In the mid-eighties, DuPont "decertified" all their fabricators and only allowed "recertification" to those who went to their school and met other conditions. They lost half their fabricators, but warranty claims dropped by 80%. When was the last time you crashed your car and the dealer fixed it for free just to save his brand?...See MoreWhich comps to use - new homes or similar homes?
Comments (25)Lol, kitty had just been shooed off the dr table. I brought home a sample of porcelain tile tonight. It's looks very nice and goes perfectly with the dark bath cabs & is ok looking with the counter. CordovaMom, this tile makes me dizzy too! I've always hated it, but dh wanted the floors to be the last thing we tackled, so here we sit. Tile in the LR is perfectly acceptable here (and common), but so is carpet. Wood floors and laminate wood really aren't very popular, except with people like me who prefer them when doing an update- and the rare custom builds have also used them, but for the most part it's tile. If the layout has the LR or a FR separated, then that's more likely to get a carpet. I'll see what the real estate agent thinks - he should know what people want or will think when they see our floors. I'll carpet if he thinks we should, but otherwise I think we'll leave it as is...if we had the time to install new flooring (even laminate wood) ourselves it might be worth our while cost wise, but since we'd have to high the labor I don't think it'd be worth it. I'd rather offer a flooring allowance if it comes down to that. After all, we still bought the home like this and it's a much stronger sellers market now than it was 4 years ago. It's rare that any of the older homes here have had any updating at all, so I think we'll be in the lead somewhat...if someone wants to look for themselves just shoot me an email and I'll send you the real estate link. I'll take a pic of the kitchen tomorrow after dh has cleaned up his mess from working on it today....See MoreSolid surface and tile
Comments (6)I think it will look great. You are correct it's not something I spec but if a client wants it then white looks very nice and will work with the backsplash. I did green cabinets on the kitchen cabinets of a house and it looked great. My recommendation is to paint the island cabinets a different color to mix it up a bit. We are doing less matchy matchy. Could be white, medium to darker gray, or a darker shade of green. Walnut sound beautiful. Also be sure to have large swatches of the green before pulling the trigger. Tape a bunch together. We are able to order large samples to make decisions. You want to gray out the green color so it does not look garish....See Morejakkom
