Knitters & cocheters,I need a skein of yarn.....can you help me?

I bought some baby yarn at the flea market.Started an afghan but now realize I need one more skein of white.And guess what...it's no longer sold in stores! It's Red Heart baby fingering size,3 ply,1 3/4 oz,270 yds.Has a blue label with a pink heart on it.The new baby yarns are thicker and won't work for me.I looked on ebay and yes there is some but it's sold in lots and I don't need all that yarn just 1 skein.I thought maybe someone here would have a skein they don't need anymore.I will gladly pay for it and all shipping costs.Can anyone help me out? Pretty please,with sugar on it? LOL! I already have the afghan half done and all that work will be for nothing if I can't find the yarn.Darn!

I'm on vacation and won't be back until March 30th. If you don't find it before then, I'll check. I was working on a baby afghan in white (over a year ago) so maybe I have it.

Hi all! I finished several projects and have moved on to a matching purse (for mom --to match her baby's anouk I made from the knitty), a made a superfun and pink fuzzy felted purse for myself, and now I am knitting up a super warm shawl for myself to keep on my computer chair and snuggle as I surf the web!!! My goal is to chew down some of my yarn stash so I don't have to feel quite as guilty when I give in to my next yarn bash. I saw someone looking for slipper patterns.... I don't have the addy but do a search under knit a longs and there is currently a great knit along for slippers with loads of free patterns for you. Hope this helps. I like looking at the knit a longs as it gives great ideas and different color/yarn combos. Yes, I have knit a few baby jackets using 3 different colors of Caron Simply Soft, which is a worsted. I think I used about a size 10 needle, but I don't remember for sure. It could have been a little larger. The SS skeins have a center pull of yarn, and that is how I used it. It doesn't change the look if the colors twist a little. Every now and then I would unwind the twists I would get in the working yarn from turning the knitting when I started every next row. The only thing you really have to be careful about is to be sure that the new stitch is knit through all 3 strands on the needle and that all 3 strands of the new stitch are pulled through the loop. Otherwise, the skipped strand makes a straight line across the stitch. Sometimes I would spot a skipped strand in the row below, and I would just undo the stitch and use a large crochet hook to pull the 3 strands through all 3 strands of the loop.

Linda, that looks like a perfect "man" blanket, LOL. I took a look at a couple of free patterns at LionBrand.com. There were a couple in particular that I remembered might help you out. This one: http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/khs-diagonalBabyBlanket.html?noImages= , uses Homespun yarn (which is also a bulky yarn) and size 11 needles, so it would be comparable. The blanket is 36" square. You can do the math to get exact measurement, but that is just a little over a third of the size you are looking for. Homespun is 185 yards per skein and the blanket calls for 3 skeins (555 yards). I would suggest purchasing a little over 1600 yards. That means that you will likely need at least 27 skeins of the yarn you have chosen. Wow, that's going to be an expensive blanket. I know your son is worth it, but maybe you will want to take a look at some other yarns. Good luck! And don't forget to post a photo for us to see. Here is a link that might be useful: blanket

LOL! Sounds like I'm going to have to way lay Santa myself! Two snowman purses for two little girls still need hats and faces, DS's socks I have to go buy more yarn. This is the first time I've used this yarn, and I am short. I don't know if I made the legs too long or there isn't as much yardage in this, but I'll get 3 skeins, one to finish these with, and two for another pair, with the left over for just in case on the next pair! Thanks for the help ladies! I haven't found any yet except on ebay and like I said it's in lots.I can wait until the 30th..the baby isn't due til June.
Thanks for the link good36 but that is pompadour yarn,which is different.The one I need is plain white,no shiney thread in it like the pompadour.
I'l keep looking unless I hear from sheilajoyce or georgysmom. I got the yarn at a deal at the fleamarket,2 green,2 yellow and 1 white.Figuring that would be plenty for an afghan....but now I'm running out of the white.

Sorry but the fingering yarn I have is Bernat. You might try Ravelry.com. You would have to join, and it is free. They have a destashing and ISO (in search of) site and you can ask for anyone who has some to sell or trade.

I'll check my stash, I have lots and lots here and there, so maybe I'll have you need. May take me a few days to find where I have all of it stashed. lol

CR - why not try emailing the sellers on ebay that have it and see if they have a single skein they could sell to you? Worth a try anyhow.

Thanks everyone! Who'd have thought one little skein of yarn would be so hard to find? LOL! I'm looking on Ravelry now...so far all I see is every color but white!

Sorry your yarn hasn't turned up yet. I'll check when I get home. I know the feeling. I started an afghan for a friend years ago and when I was almost finished, it became apparent I would not have enough yarn. Back in those days, I made my afghans longer than the pattern called for. I don't know what I did when figuring out how many skeins I would need but something went wrong. I had made this particular afghan several times and this was the first time I shorted myself. I knew if I ripped out 1/3 of the afghan it would be the size it was suppose to be and I would have enough yarn to finish. I started the project for my friends 60th birthday. I mailed it to her for her 80th birthday! I sent it with a card that said Happy 60th Birthday.....she thought I was losing it until she read the explanation. If nothing else, we got a good laugh from it.

Did you post over on the 'knitting and crocheting' forum here at GW? They may be able to help you.

I'll check when I to to my thrift shop tomorrow, I know I have some down there but not sure if it's the right one. Didn't find any here in the house in my craft room, but I haven't checked my building out back that has some yarn stashed in it. Good grief, yarn everywhere!

Well, I'm home and I checked my yarn but I'm sorry to say it is not the same. I was so hopeful since I bought it for a baby afghan that I never finished. I'm so sorry I couldn't be of help.....hope you find it someplace.

I checked my stash and mine is white with the shiny thread. Have quite a bit of yarn and was hoping I had what you needed. Know the feeling, Been there and done that before. Hope you find it.
