The latter is correct, but I wouldn't have translated that to read as "park". "Garden" would be more correct and was/is the name (North Garden) of a famous Imperial garden located within the forbidden city. IMO, it looks to be a souvenir tea set meant for outings, so would have been made after 1912, but I would probably say more like 1930-1960. It's main purpose would have been for display though rather than as an actual "fine quality" tea set. The recessed space was more than likely for the hot water container. The inside divider tray that would hold the actual tea set is missing, but a nice little box. I don't know that it would be worth all that much without the actual tea set. Ceremonial tea set boxes would typically lay horizontal, open from the top, and wouldn't have a handle.

You could do a white badge with a yellow border and then using some faux daisies (which you could buy a bunch of altogether and pull them off individually) and then glue the daisy onto one side of the name badge. Sal

As far as our "new friend" goes, he's not trying to sell us anything yet. Part 2 is posted, and I think it's possible he (or she) is just giving us the benefit of knowledge about what goes on in China and elsewhere. I have a friend who's paid quite a bit for these "original" copies, and I bet she doesn't know they're sort of a paint-by-numbers. She'd probably appreciate the posting above. I am known to be naive, so I acknowledge maybe there will be a part 3 where we're given a sales pitch, but so far I don't see what Zhenwei stands to gain personally by the postings. Yeah, rhizo I think that's it. I was trying today to remember what the name of that dough was. I just remember the salty feel to it. Whatever it was these things are still as hard and solid as little rocks 40 years later. It was a fun project. Thanks for the suggestions. Party, yes, the hanger was stuck into the top of the head of each dough character before he/she was baked. So when the hanger rusted and fell away the hole is still there. I wish I could think of a way to attach a new hanger in the existing hole. Maybe gorilla glue would work. ..
