For over 20 years I have killed the roots of remaining stumps by painting the cut surface,IMMEDIATELY, with full strength 41% roundup. Not all trees will regrow from a stump, or roots in the ground, so I use Roundup selectively. If I am asleep at the switch and miss a tree, I can still kill it by spraying the new growth with brush killer, but it will take usually three years to kill. Al

I work for a big box retailer and have probably delivered 1000 refrgerators. Probably an under estimate. That damn plastic is the worst part of the job! Whoever came up with it needs to be taken out and shot. It’s a manufacturing defect, Some manufacturers have plastic that peels off with no effort at all, and some you can spend a half hour peeling it off one inch at a time. If one manufacturer can do it right, then they can all do it right. Frigidaire and Whirlpool and GE, I’m talking to you! You can take a sharp razor blade and steadily run it down the inside edge. You never get it all off, but you can get close and make it a lot less noticeable. The problem with that is, of course, some people don’t want a razor on their new fridge. At that point, you give up and tell them to invest in a pair of tweezers. If you want to complain, complain to the manufacturer. Your delivery people didn’t put that crap on there. It’s your fridge, so deal with it! The cheaper the fridge, the harder it is to get off. Complain to the manufacturer! Complain to the manufacturer! Complain to the manufacturer!

-I would try to heat and soften it with a hairdryer, and use a paper towel to try to rub it off. -Try acetone (fingernail polish remover). Just don't use these two methods at the same time because acetone is flammable/combustible. Be sure to come back and post the remedy that works. It would be interesting to know.

Winnowing is lofting the stuff into the air in a breeze to let the light stuff float off and the heavy stuff to fall. Often done with wheat collection. What you would be doing is catching the floating stuff and tossing the heavier plastic. If there's plastic coated cardboard cards getting shredded, those will still float but shouldn't be bedded for the worms so much. If you are seeing plastic wondow stuff in there that will float and you will need to go back through your paper and pick all of it out. You don't want little shreds of plastic in your compost. I realize it's not really my buisness but I'm curious. How many charge cards is your dad using up on the regular that they are so often in the shred bin? Once in a while is a thing, but if it's on the regular... maybe a solution is to ask him to sort his shredding. Bedding safe paper in a pile, the rest in another. Shred for the worms, then shred the other stuff seperate.
