Friday Scavenger Hunt- paper weaving

This Friday's scavenger hunt was inspired by a class my stamp store is advertising. It is a type of paper weaving called "papuela". They sell templates you can use for this weaving, but I think it would not be too hard to make your own. So any paper weaving links are good- examples, projects or patterns.

I forgot about this one.simple little woven heart-shaped baskets but the variations are awesome!

When my DS and his then-wife bought a very large house in CT, they bought (separate contract from the house) a great deal of the furniture, both indoor and outdoor. When they sold it 5 years later when they divorced, the new buyers wanted a few things. Unfortunately, they were things my DS was to get in the divorce and his wife agreed to this. Since the house had been on the market for 16 months and was selling for nearly $900,000 less than they paid for it, my DS did not make a stink. Wish he had gotten those club chairs, though! My parents bought several rugs in a house they purchased 47 years ago, and had previously bought a few things from a house they had bought in 1962. It's really quite common, and if the sale of the house is due to downsizing, it's an excellent way to sell furniture that is not needed or won't fit in a new residence.

Hi Everybody! Finally made it back from the Graveyard Hunt and visiting the granddaughters. The Hunt went well, got two that I hadn't planned on and missed out on 3 because of the weather - HIGH humidity and close to 100 degrees. Very annoying. I visited 9 graveyards, not for the ghostly/haunted angle, but more for the carvings and different types of gravestones and the history. And I like the old, small family graveyards, but did get some of the bigger ones with old stones. I purposely avoided any that were supposed to be haunted, not that I believe in ghosts but why take chances? It is amazing how many different types of gravestones there are. I did end up at one that I didn't want to go to; a young girl was murdered there in 1991 and as far as I can tell, her murderer was never apprehended. I crossed that one off the list rather quickly. Then, I got lost in Madison County and came up on this beautiful, small, wooded cemetery. Great, I thought. Wandered around, took lots of pics and thoroughly enjoyed it. Got to my daughters and revisited the website and found out that this was the ONE cemetery I had wanted to avoid. DUH! Kind of scary to think about. The granddaughters are doing well, and enjoying their summer, altho I think Tabitha is just about ready for school to begin. We went to the splash pad, rode bikes and did some tye dyeing. That was an experience, with a 7 and 4 year old! I need to get over to the July swap site and see how everyone is doing with that. And I'll do that as soon as I get laundry done and get suitcases and the back pack stored away! Hope all are doing well! Shirley!

Paper Hearts on Your Windows?

One house in our neighborhood has every window covered with hearts - I wondered about that. So far the subdivision has had a teddy bear in window scavenger hunt, rocks painted as Easter eggs by the mailboxes, Easter egg in windows hunt, and a drive by easter bunny. Quite a bit of chalk driveway art as well.

Susan, thank you for your generous prize package. I really feel like a winner! So many wonderful prizes. I apologize as I am not sure when it arrived as hubby and i packed up and went down to North Carolina and rented a cabin at a KOA. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we stayed an extra night. The seeds, the bulbs, flag, coloring book, coffee tea and more are all wonderful, (the coffee will be served tomorrow). I had a great time in the swap and you were an awesome host. Many thanks again!

Here are directions for weaving a fish out of tickertape (or ribbon).

How about just weaving quilling strips of different colors and widths to get a Madras effect?

That's funny, I was just at that icandream site y'day and I didn't see the one for the bird. I was going to post the fish one and the woven paper ball.

I found the bird diagram with google. Search engines can find pages that do not have links pointing to them.

This is the first time I've seen diagrams for the bird. I saw one once about 10 years ago and learned by reverse-engineering, but it's tough to show/explain to people what I'm doing, so I'm glad someone took the time to post instructions! :-o
