From the previous discussion, I started reading the Elm Creek series (I'm on #3)- Now I get it. I put a hold on "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler" at the library. I am 5th in the line (so it will be a long while - that's okay.) I called LQS - they have a few solid blacks, I am going to try to get there before they close, so I'll let you all know. The problem, I made a B'day Block using the Connecting Threads Black - the black looks spectacular (DH even noticed the contrast - he usually has no opinion). I only bought a yard to test the fabric & add to my stash. Compared to everything else I am finding, the richness of the black outweighs the tighter weave I would prefer for what adds up to about 28 blocks and more (I was going to buy 7 yards). Life is full of compromises-I decide to order more this morning-Connecting Threads doesn't carry it anymore. I'm flexible - so one more look see at the QS. In fact, if the price is close to the online prices, I really prefer to support the small shop to keep them in business. Thanks to all who share our expertise. If you like the pattern and want to give it a try, here's a link to the daisy pattern. From start to finish the sewing took less than 2 hours and I'm a PP novice. I tried one 1/4 in a different color first, then changed my mind and started over, changing to a purplish fabric for the largest petals. The beading was another 1/2 hour. I just used a fabric pen for the name. It really didn't take very long at all. I guess that's the beauty of PP - it looks much more complicated than it is! Magnificent Job!!! and matching pillows too, those luckys newly marrieds. May they enjoy it for decades to come! I find the design challenge of the beiges & white are particularly admirable, you made it work wonderfully. I recently sent out my first quilt to be long armed (1st bed quilt, twin). I've seen thorugh my experience & confirm w/ yours how wonderful it is to get the finished quilt back & find it so beautiful as to surpass ones hopes! Magically beautiful, well done indeed!
