Yes, my sister and I sing the flag decal song. It ought to be played on the radio, and the saga about "Sam Stone", too. Sam Stone is really relevant now with all the young men and women serving around the world who are coming home with shattered bodies and shatter minds. Jeez! SAM STONE - written and performed by John Prine Sam Stone came home, To his wife and family After serving in the conflict overseas. And the time that he served, Had shattered all his nerves, And left a little shrapnel in his knee. But the morphine eased the pain, And the grass grew round his brain, And gave him all the confidence he lacked, With a Purple Heart and a monkey on his back. Chorus: There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes, Jesus Christ died for nothin', I suppose. Little pitchers have big ears, Don't stop to count the years, Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios. Mmm.... Sam Stone's welcome home Didn't last too long. He went to work when he'd spent his last dime And Sammy took to stealing When he got that empty feeling For a hundred dollar habit without overtime. And the gold rolled through his veins Like a thousand railroad trains, And eased his mind in the hours that he chose, While the kids ran around wearin' other peoples' clothes... Repeat Chorus: There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes, Jesus Christ died for nothin', I suppose. Little pitchers have big ears, Don't stop to count the years, Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios. Mmm.... Sam Stone was alone When he popped his last balloon Climbing walls while sitting in a chair Well, he played his last request While the room smelled just like death With an overdose hovering in the air But life had lost its fun And there was nothing to be done But trade his house that he bought on the G.I. Bill For a flag draped casket on a local heroes' hill Chorus There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes, Jesus Christ died for nothin', I suppose. Little pitchers have big ears, Don't stop to count the years, Sweet songs never last too long on broken radios. Mmm.... ------------------------------ Annie

jolanaweb I read the cynical responses to your request on the tree forum, and they made me so mad because they were being just down right rude to you. And so I posted a thread over here about their rudeness, and that's when jolanaweb jumped in too. Those people over there scare me. I think that the picture is of Jesus_ because he does look like a Marine. Both my boys are Army, but all the service guys look alike with the haircuts. Last Christmas when my son was here in Rockport, he asked a hair dresser to give him an Army haircut. She didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about. Sorry for getting off the subject. I don't want to get anyone upset with me like they have done on some other forums.

learned the hard way... marry someone you like and respect as a person - lasts long after the heat of passion wanes and those little worrying thoughts about parts of your partner's character start to grow. don't ever stay with anyone who doesn't think you're the greatest thing since sliced bread. not that your partner shouldn't know that you have flaws, we all do, but your flaws should be seen as part of the whole of you and just part of what makes you human.

Please take a look. It says: Jesus loves the little children... The inside reads: And gentle souls like YOU. Here is a link that might be useful:
