In a house that will be updated anyway...

In a house that will be updated by the next owner anyway, would this be a bad fixture to replace the existing one? The existing fixture is a good tole fixture, and worth taking out and repainting/pin-striping.

My parents kitchen with 1969 table/chairs and fixture, updated about 1987:

The cabinets and floor are white, as are the appliances.
I think this fixture is the "D" word, but since it is all white it is relatively inoffensive, and it is also Cheap.
The area is not all that fashion forward. My sister rented a house built less than ten years ago with the brass version of this in the dining room.
