Spring break adventures???

Belonged to a clannish sorority, in high school.

We always went to Panama City, Fl. Of course, with a mother, and another adult.

We were supervised, that was in the late 50's.

But OHHHHHHHHHHHHHH the beach parties we had with with Montgomery, al, boys was fun fun fun!

Remember THE HIDEOUT, where you danced THE SPOON! very risky, back then!

Mild, to what is today's standards!

Glenda...what was the "spoon"

First dance I remember was, I think they may have called it a jitterbug....I just remember it as "fast dancing"

We never did anything for spring break.

In central Illinois, there was no place exotic to visit for spring break. And parents were busy with their jobs and responsibilities. Easter vacation was usually spent finishing up a term paper and various housework chores.

Tsuga junkie, you’ve got a nice garden. Do you open it up to tours? I frequent nurseries in the region, but rarely do I see the plants you have. Do you primarily source them via internet mail order? Edited after noticing this: “I'd say 80% of my plants came from the usual mail order spots (Coenosium, Porterhowse, Girard, Greer, etc) in 1 gal. pots or less”. Never mind....

People here have been mowing their yards already. This morning I went around with my cart and picked up sticks all about the property, came in the house, first thing I hear is the neighbor on her riding mower. She just HAS to be first to mow her yard each year. LOL. It was sunny with wind, but the threat of thunder storms was in the air. I almost went to the garage to get my mower out but then decided I was too lazy and will wait awhile. Now it looks as tho it could rain soon. The grass is actually at a good height for being so early in the season. Besides, it takes me appx. 2hrs. to mow everything. Eh, I'm not ready for winter vacation to be over. :(

Shawn, it sounds to me like you have a pretty good handle on what your needs are, and how you will live in your new house. That is the important information you need to bring to your architect. The more detail you can provide on your needs, desires, and lifestyle, the more quickly the architect can provide a draft plan that will work for you. Just reading through this thread, you have highlighted many important wishes. A good architect will ask lots of questions to help pin down your needs and wants even further (because it's impossible to think of everything at once, when we've never done it before). One thing to keep in mind - you've put a lot of time and energy into your plans, and an architect may come back with a design that looks nothing like yours. Please keep an open mind, and ask they why things are laid out a certain way. You may be very surprised at how well a different plan may suit your family! Another thing to remember is that your kids are going to grow up fast. It sounds like your children are fairly young; as teenagers, their needs will change dramatically. Plan now for them to have space away from the living room to hang out with their friends. Good luck!

I can just imagine the good time you must have had Glenda! I never did the spring break thing when I was younger, but now it's part of my job. I'm responsible for promotions at three different spring break locations, Panama City Beach, South Padre Island and Key West. It's crazy!!! We'll be at PCB & SPI for two full weeks and KW one week. PCB is definitely THE breakers location of choice in the US! It'll keep me on my toes for the next six weeks. Those kids can get pretty wild.

I never went anywhere on Spring Break. I remember seeing kids at FT. Lauderdale on the news. It looked like there were thousands of them. I always wished I could have been there.

A couple of years ago, DS and his buddies went to the Spam museum in Austin, MN. A real wild bunch, huh? LOL This year they want to go to the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and Science museum perhaps.

The two beaches popular for Spring break in the early 60s in our area were Panama City and Fernandina Beach. We also had parents with us. The twist was the in dance then. Remember Chubby Checker?

We never had trips planned for spring break that I recall. Right now, I can't remember if we go spring break. Surely we did. I lead a sheltered life I guess. LOL

We went to Galveston Beach, but I can't remember the name of the Club on the Beach.

Most Spring Breakers today go to South Padre Island which has better beaches.
