I don't have a fancy keyboard phone and am a S L O W texter. I look for any way to abbreviate things. LOL
Some times you just gotta sound things out.

When I SMS on my phone I only have so many characters I can use. If I start running out of space I'll start shortening my words to get them all in. So when you can read the short words you might actually be getting longer messages in the end..Clear as mud??

Glenda, Your grandson might be tickled that your trying. Don't be to sad he doesn't say more. You'll just have to use facebook chat to talk (type) to him every so often. You might be talking more than ever! Hope so.

I started Texting last Fall & I HATE it!! These poor kids will never know how to spell, or carry on a conservation! LOL IDK (I don't know) what this worlds coming to!

Hey, he's TALKING TO YOU...my kids don't want to talk to their grandma (DH's mom) and grandpa (my dad) (other reason's I admit)...but if it were me, I'll take anything! Thank goodness DGD still loves to talk to Grandma Vickey ..and I'll talk to her however she wants to.

HAHA! Reminds me of when I first started coming here to the KT! I remember asking Claude what a "DH" was, or "LOL", "IMHO", "SIL", "ROTFL", etc.

I do text, but I use complete sentences. Abbreviating would be easier because I'm s-l-o-w, but I just can't bring myself to do it. :)

my nice has started SPEAKING in text. As in, when we are talking out loud to one another and I ask her what she is doing this weekend - she says "Oh, IDK." (in a sing-songy voice)

I just can't use the short cuts...But if I send a long text my phone just divides it up into 1 of 3...2 of 3 and 3 of 3.

All the kids use the short cuts.

My grandson Bradley got a poster for Christmas that was full of all the short cuts...neat gift....maybe you need one Glenda...LOL.

I'm sure you can find the "talk" listed on the internet.

"yes mame" after I wrote and asked him to call me sometime.

When I was in school I once took an elective in briefhand. It is nothing like shorthand because it uses the regular alphabet instead of symbols. It eliminates most vowels and uses single letters for common words.

So the transition to texting was easy for me. Reminds me of briefhand and I often fall back on briefhand to this day. Just sort of stuck with me.
