My towels MUST be folded and placed into their proper places the right way! I have been known to dump out drawers and empty the linen closet if they are folded wrong- I also have a certain way of folding DH's briefs. But my excuse it that it is the only way they fit in the their proper areas!

My towel on the oven door has to be even too! Bathroom towels have to be put on the shelf so the fold is facing out.

DH has plenty! Just last night he took out the garbage, I always put a new bag in. He came back in and looked at the garbage can and asked me "you still don't know how to put a bag in there right?" My reply was hey, I can't hang the toilet paper the right way, how do you expect me to put the garbage bags in correctly? LOL
We have had the same wooden garbage can for years and years. I like the bag with the bottom slightly off the bottom of the garbage can and a little hanging out the top of the container. He likes the bottom of the bag to touch the bottom of the can...I do it my way and he goes behind me and fixes things! LOL

When I fold the towels they have to be folded just right AND the tags HAVE to be tucked in. Seriously, I tried to let it go once and it bothered me so bad I had to go and fix them.

Heavens, I don't have any quirks!!! LOL, I am way to sane for such trivial stuff. :)

I want my closet doors shut! The blinds open in the day time, and closed at night.

I want lights off, in rooms that are not in use.

Oh, and close the bathroom door! ALWAYS! I don't want to look in a bathroom, anytime I walk through the living room.

Like most disturbances, my quirk has its roots in my childhood.

Growing up my mom used to make me fold towels in a very particular way. Right side out (hems together), the exact same folds in order, so they would lay the same way in the closet. I can vividly remember "discussing" the pointlessness of the whole task with her. If I mistakenly folded it "wrong" side out she'd ask me to do it again. It wasn't a mommy dearest kind of thing, she was nice about it. If she didn't catch me at the time, she'd find it in the cabinet and do it over herself. I would go along (like I had a choice- ha), but tell her the whole time she needed to get over it, there are more important things in life, she needed therapy, obsessive-compulsive, etc. LOL. And she wasn't like that about most other things in the house... but those towels!

Dontcha'know... 20+ years later, I pull my towels out of the dryer and fold them *exactly* the same way, paying attention to make them right side out. I have tried to break free, fold them a different way, ignore the hems (I have to make more effort to do it "wrong" side out, sigh), but I keep coming back by some compulsive pull. I am the only one in the house who folds towels, so it's always done that way. But I suspect if I opened the closet and found them different, I would *have* to redo them or it would just bug me. If one of the kids were helping me, I'd have to train him/her to do the same. There might be 3 loads of other clean laundry piled somewhere waiting to be folded, but those towels are nice and neat. Thanks Mom!

I am just like Heather In Ohio when it comes to towels.
And my bed has to be made in a certain way or I have to remake it......especially when staying away from home.
When my first child was born I had to have all the diapers (cloth way back then) and baby shirts folded just a certain way. My sister came over and helped me fold laundry and after she left I had to re-do all the baby clothes.
When my second child arrived 17 months later I got over that quirk in a hurry.

I roll my towels and am able to put more on the linen shelves that way and they are easy to remove without moving any of the others

Yes I have some quirks,mostly the same as the above posters with the towels--its always been a space issue I thought

with the garbage cans,I always put in a couple or 3 bags at a time,so that when one is taken out,the next one is already there

Wow...lots of people have quirks about towels. LOL Me too. They have to be folded all the same way and stacked the same way.

I like my dishwasher loaded a certain way...cups all facing the same way. Plates all facing the same way. I want the handles down, because I don't want the rinse water to run down to the part we eat from. Ew!

I use a different shampoo and conditioner every day.

I like all the shirts in the closet to face the same way and I prefer all the hangers to be the same color. White.

I buy all socks the same, so I don't have to sort them. I hate to do that.

I am a Virgo and I am the only one that does it right. Well, that, and my oldest. He is exactly like me, but worse. Or...am I like him? LOL However, he isn't a Virgo.

It is a real effort to let things go. It doesn't work out so well for me though. And at work? I am even worse.

For me it's the toilet seat cover. It must be down and the door must be shut half way.

Not me, I'm perfect, but my husband has a cute quirk. He folds the plastic bags groceries come in. I just stuff them into one of the bags and take them to recycling. He has a neat pile of perfectly folded bags. They look so lonely laying there in the recycling bin, among all the wrinkled, jammed in bags.

My Dad is so quirky that I go out of my way to NOT be quirky. We call him Capt. Quirk, he's got it down pat.

Honestly, I'm not terribly picky about anything and I like it that way. Oh, one thing- Woody likes to fold t-shirts that origami way and I don't. So I refold my t-shirts that he's done, because his way puts too many wrinkles into them. That's it! That's my quirk! lol

My towels and wash cloths must all be folded in the same direction and stacked so that all the folds are even.

I must put on my left sock first and then the right one. I take them off starting with the left first too.

I must always use the same coffee cup each morning. If Jammer picks up "my" cup first, I am very uncomfortable.
I can't possibly use the right ear for my phone. It's gotta be my left ear.

I don't think Jammer has any quirks, at least none that I've noticed.

If I am picky about anything, it is food. I don't like anything over cooked and I usually don't save left overs.

I am also quirky about talking on the phone. If you can get me on the phone, I will talk your ears off, but getting me to answer it, that's something else.

I also don't like dealing with people...so I will get my husband to do just about everything for me that requires conversation or taking care of business and then I complain because he didn't say it the way I wanted it handled.

And, I don't like living close to other people, and only had to do it once in my life. While waiting for our daughter to finish school, so I could move here, we lived in my mother's old house for a year. It was on a half acre lot and another house right across the street. I would take her to school in the morning and stay gone all day and only come home when time to pick her up.

DH and I agree on one thing. All closet doors must be closed. I shut our bedroom closet dOOr before I go to bed. He closes all the kitchen cabinet doors when he goes in there.

Stephanie, were you raised in GA? My dad was the same way! Problem was all the towels had to be the same size when folded. Since my mom would hem the frayed edges, the towels ranged in size from a piece of notebook paper to a lap blanket, LOL! I not relish in folding my towels however I want- usually just happy they are in the bathroom. Doesn't matter much, Elmo and Stewie will pull them off the shelf and the climb up and sleep on the ones still in the closet!

Now, I am a little weird about one thing- kind of an OCD thing. I buy things in pairs. Drive Eric absolutely CRAZY! Also tend to eat two of something, which is NOT always healthy!!!!

I am the same way with the towel on the oven door as susan mentioned. however the dogs keep knocking it down, or is it DH just blaming the dogs? Also about folding bath towels, the few times DH folds them, I redo it. HE on the other hand has a million quirks.... only HE can load a dishwasher correctly, and at bedtime he goes around closing blinds and shutting doors to all the rooms in the house. The MBR has to be pitch dark, blinds closed curtains pulled, clock covered.... just don't get it about the other rooms.............

I fold towels in 3rds, and put them in the cupboard with the fold facing out. Wash cloths folded in 4ths, stacked, with the fold on the left when put away. Cupboard doors shut. Dish washer loaded a certain way. All my shirts are on plastic hangers, facing the same way.
I didn't think I had any quirks, but I guess I do.

I know that I have several quirks but I guess my biggest one is: My bathroom has two entrances....and a 3 way switch for the light. When the light is out, both entrance switches HAVE to be in the down position.

Oh.... I have the towel thing too. I just think it looks nicer. Also, closet and bathroom doors must be shut.
The remote control always has to be in a certain spot on the coffee table. Dining room chairs have to be pushed back in, hubby has a habit of just getting up and walking away, leaving the chair out.
I have other things too, but am drawing a blank!!

ritamay, your post reminded me about having the dining chairs pushed back in! Jammer (and others) seem to leave chairs out when they get up and our dining chairs are very heavy! I have to get up and put them in place.

maryanntx- like you I have to put on my left sock and shoe before the right, and take them off that way too. Putting them on the right foot first just doesn't feel right.

lol...I will fold my DH's undershirts, underware and socks and then put them neatly in his dresser.

I, on the other hand, put them in a pile and shove my undergarments and socks into the drawer.

My quirk is window blinds, they have to be where you can see out and not shut downward, for some reason it drives me nuts. TP has to go over also.

Here's a story about a guy I used to work with who had a major quirk, and how the rest of us TORTURED him over it!

A bit of explanation is needed. Working in a telephone office back in the old electromechanical phone days, whenever you had to 'busy' a piece of equipment (take it out of service) so you could repair it, you inserted a 'busy plug' which looked like what an operator on an old cord board might use, except it was just the plug, no cord, into the appropriate jack. Anyway, this guy had occasion to 'retire', or permanently busy out, a few banks of equipment. Rather than use the plugs he had on hand, he went to the supply locker and got a box of brand new plugs with green sleeves on them, each held in place with a little brass setscrew. As if that wasnt enough, he always lined them up with the setscrews facing up, all neatly in a row. Whenever some of us walked down that aisle, we would twist them all every which way.

Well he'd see them and get so mad his face turned beet red! He'd come charging around, demanding "WHO'S BEEN TOUCHING MY BUSY PLUGS? I'D BETTER NOT FIND OUT!!!" That got even MORE of us on board! You had to be there, but it was too funny; anything's better than actually working, LOL!

I don't think you guys are quirky, I just think you are neat housekeepers. I, on the other hand, am a slob. I must have the toilet paper coming up over from the back, though. I've been know to change it in bathrooms that aren't even mine. :)

Sign my name to Leslie's post, line for line. Drives my DDIL a little crazy when I'm there and fold laundry for her..that family just quarters the towels and stacks them in the linen closet. Of course their LC is a LOT bigger than mine!

I have to have towels folded a certain way and going in the same direction also. I hate open kitchen cupboards or drawers, we have one that won't stay closed right now and it's driving me nuts. I like things to by symmetrical and if something is crooked (hanging towels, hanging pictures or art), it drives me crazy until I straighten it. I can't ever have bare feet, even in the house, and must wear socks or slippers. That is mostly because I have a weird pet peeve about stray hairs and I am totally creeped out by the thought of having a stray hair wrapped around my toes. *shudder*

I have alot of weird quirks.

Well, I have that towel folding gene, too. But DH took over the laundry a few years ago when he retired (bless his peaked little head) because I am still working. So I have had to close my eyes to what the linen closet looks like now. However, I expect to retire this year, & will take back the laundry & fold the way it's supposed to be done. :)

Maybe it is because I live "down under" but I am do the opposite of Maryann and Gmom - I have to put right foot or right arm into socks and clothing first - even if I am dressing a wriggling baby or toddler. Also - the toilet paper has to go under at my house. Beth
